I love how Andy is a bit more pessimistic to weigh out Ann's optimism. It makes for a great dynamic that I wish we can dre more of in cartoons nowadays.
I know what you mean, all cartoons nowadays are all about "being yourself" and "accepting of others". Not that there isn't anything wrong with that stuff but I just see that stuff in literally every cartoon nowadays. I want adventure to come back in cartoons, not "real" issues.
Its a shame they never did more specials based around this version of the characters. The voice acting and dynamic between both Raggedy Ann and Andy was brilliant and the humor works perfectly. This is one of those franchises that could really go for an update or movie. It might have seem impossible before but With Barbie killing it at the box office. Maybe there is a Future for RAAA .
Coming off the raggedy ann musical film to this, I'm disliking the squabbling. I prefer the dolls to get along unrealistically because they aren't humans; they're dolls. These sour expressions and naysaying... its not very fun. .
I wrote and posted this on another person's comment but am repeating it here because I saw a few comments made about the Annabelle movie. In the original stories of the two rag dolls they were wholsesome, kind and loving dolls who were full of good cheer and a love for adventure. They would often venture into the deep deep woods where magic and fantastical creatures abided. They were always helping others and were even kind to others who were bad. The bad ones would always see the error of their ways and become good people thanks to the love of the two rag dolls. The books were wonderful and made the dolls loved by millions. It's a shame it was tarnished by a story of a doll that even though claimed to be possessed by an evil spirit, has no real evidence of it being so.
The gently self satisfied way that she can plainly see that lady isn't a villain, her simple, gentle little plan to fix things, the fact that it just works perfectly-- Holy shit I have another weird cartoon crush now!! 😍😍😍
I wish these two would come back! They seem to have the spirit of adventure that is lacking in cartoons these days. Nowadays it's all about "big mysteries" and "be yourself". Not that there isn't anything wrong with that stuff, but it seems to be the only thing I see in cartoons now!
@@chasformer3091 A wondrous adventure that ignites the imagination, a crazy ride through an unbelievable fantasy! The most perfect escape from all reality.
Why is Andy always the best? lol I grew up watching this along with the Musical Adventure and never realized how much it shaped me for better or worse lolol
I grew up watching this on VHS every year and now I’m 27 and I still watch it every year, whether it’s Halloween or not... XD This was my only Raggedy Ann and Andy as a little girl and I used to sit in front of the TV with my mother’s Raggedy Ann doll and watch this. I sometimes wish I still had her... That was a 1970’s Bobs Merrill Raggedy Ann. I think she was anyway... all I know is Annabelle looks just like her and even has the same dress.
And I had the biggest crush on this Raggedy Andy when I was little. I wanted a doll of him sooo bad. XD Still do! I have a pretty good one but it’s not this one with the orange hair.
One of my must watch Halloween traditions. Such a mellow, and nice short. Ann and Andy are so adorable here. Also- I know I'm hearing this completely wrong, but when the pumpkin says "a glum little boy" all I hear for some odd reason is "dumb little boy." Lol. Pumpkin: I am? I'm gonna make a dumb little boy terribly happy? I AM?!?!
Mrs. Hobart Donavan was June Foray's married name. June Foray, Daws Butler, and Les Tremayne were all very successful radio actors during radio's golden age. (Just like most of the voice artists in cartoons of the 1940s-80s.)
If I ever have a son and daughter, I would name them Ann and Andy because of Raggedy Ann and Andy. They may be Rag dolls but are adventurous children at heart.
I wish we could post pictures on here because I have photos somewhere of my pumpkin the year I found one shaped just like this guy... I turned him into this pumpkin and he even cried pumpkin seeds. He looked like an official version of this guy!!
Les Tremayne chewing so much scenery he won't have room for candy for 17 and a half years, is an indelible part of Halloween. He's a great pumpkin, that one.
11:59, Every Halloween! This never gets old . Crazy cat on a Jack ''O Lantern! Hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🎃👻🐈⬛ 🧟 One of the things I miss throughout the 1980s was the greatest halloween cartoons that they use to show on television back then. It didn't matter if they were black and white, old ones, new ones or even classics they still had played them and they were the best to watch. Miss watching these type of cartoons big-time, how can I not. They were a part of my life growing up as a young kid/ teenager. I do remember these two cartoons here pretty great and I enjoyed watching them too. I think they need to give us back what is ours and leave everything else alone. Put things back the way they it use to be but I doubt if they would. I also will admit i miss being a 80s kid
Thank you for posting! My kids and I watched a home-recorded videotape of this every year, and they are all grown and gone now. I sent them the link to this so we could all watch again this year.
This is one of two Raggedy Ann, Andy & Arthur animated specials made by CBS Studios, Allspark Animation & Chuck Jones Enterprises Inc. before their Saturday Morning tv debut and this is also, their only Halloween 👻 🎃 special. Keep up the great 👍 job. Your the tops! I love ❤️ it!
I remember this on Disney channel 36 years ago when I was 5 and I noticed as a kid Andy sounded like Elroy Jetson and Aunt Agatha and Ann are voiced by the legend June foray
The Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile: Aren't you scared of me? What could be scarier? Andy having nightmarish of A Musical Adventure before answering: You have no idea...
Listening to the late June Foray’s voice really sounds an awful lot like the late Christine Cavanaugh. You can definitely hear the similarities between the two.
I used to have this on tape when I was a little girl! Along with a Disney Halloween treat! And Dr Seuss's Halloween is Grinch night! My parents used to record them for me and my sister a long time ago!
