Went for a hike to Tenaja Waterfalls after the rain. Someone crashed into my truck too! :(
A few days after the rain, I went to go check out Tenaja Falls. It's a fun winding road called Tenaja Truck Trail that leads to the parking area for the falls. If you are going, there are a few different spots to park and hike. The first location has a big lot with a bathroom, that would be a pretty long hike to the falls. Further on down the road, you'll come across Fisherman's Camp, but if you go past that, you will finally reach the falls parking lot. It is small, so if you go on a weekend it might be pretty crammed around there. A normal car can make it, just watch out for pot holes! I took my 4Runner hoping there might be a off road trail that may shoot off, but there was not.
The hike itself is not very long, it's about 2 miles total to the top and back.
I ended up doing almost 3 miles going up river trying to find a good spot to cross the river. It was fun exploring, but either way, your going to have to take your shoes off and cross, so may as well cross where your supposed to. lol
At the top, the waterfall is raging! So much water which is great to see! I've been there plenty of times before where the waterfall is a trickle. No one else was there so it was very enjoyable. Sat and enjoyed watching the waterfall for a while from above, then headed back down the hill.
It was time to leave and I was cruising, just leaving the parking lot and a guy in a car came drifting around the corner coming head on with me. Luckily there was a shoulder and some quick thinking I jerked the 4runner to the right and he ended up hitting my side doors. Luckily for my truck, it has rock sliders on so that blocked a lot of damage, but completely wrecked his front end. I love my 4Runner and I'm pretty upset some kid ruined it by thinking he's in Gymkhana on that road, I didn't even get those dents by doing something cool off roading lol But at the same time, he's lucky it was me and not a dirtbike, mountain bike, or even another car.
SO, if you drive down that road, be very careful and take the curves in the road slowly.
