it's very impressive when played fast like that...the only negative is that we don't get to hear the full beauty of the song. but to get attention speed will always impress...this guy deserves a lot of credit to play that song so well in a crowded place like that. he was playing effortlessly great stuff!............

Hmm, I agree, and Scott Joplin had a very clear perception on that too, going so far as to have "Don't play quickly !" written on his published sheet music. Yet I guess that this idea of playing fast just became a parallel respected way to play too, like it was with classical music, and which Tom Scott himself persisted that his music was before it had been given its own genre.

(The following instructions are all eighth notes) It goes down Ab, Gb, F, Eb, and then Db, followed by *Chord 1* (Ab, Db, F), bass notes Ab, *Chord 1* again, bass notes Db, *Chord 1*, bass notes Ab, *Chord 1*, then bass notes Ab again, *Chord 2* (Eb, Ab, and C), bass notes Eb, *Chord 2*, bass notes Ab again, *Chord 2*, bass notes Eb, *Chord 2*, and then the final bass line of the original score (you know, the one with the 16th and 8th notes together?)

Il Rag-Time è Rag-Time, Chopin è Chopin. 'Rag' deriva dall'arabo 'Raqs', ossia 'danza'! Per cui, danziamo, danziamo!

This guy has obviously mastered the piano, it takes: An awful lot of practise, talent, devotion and commitment and for just one to give it a thumbs down, let alone 329 at this point beggars belief. They must be tone deaf, ignorant or maybe the green eyed monster is showing it's ugly head and they are only at chopsticks standard. I play trumpet to an intermediate standard and to become a true professional at your chosen instrument is tough to say the least. Ah well, banging on so I will leave it there.

Some crude comments from non musicians and from musicians... to both i could say... you all blablabla... where is your video with you playing? just so to be fair... He was not there to perform... he was there waiting to catch a plane... and he had the balls to play in a busy airport...so maybe that's why he speed up... you are always in a kind of rush when you wait for your flight... even if you're there 2 hours before... but the bad commentator? balls to play publicly and without plans like this? i gues you're just a blablabla... i say well done to this guy, he played by instinct, without trying to show off... you others, would not do it, in the same situation, because it would be about showing off...but no balls to do it... the guy was great but i don't think he was thinking about catching a plane...the guy practices a lot saw a piano and thought this was the perfect time to show his skills....there's nothing wrong with that....his award was the crowd watching him i'm sure he loved that and couldn't care less about the negative responses on youtube, he's probably playing it fast like this because he knows that's the way to impress the crowd and gather attention,,,,i doubt he was in a rush to catch a plane though....he'll probably be back there in another 15minutes pulling off another ragtime song.
