Gentleman, The reason was sewag, sachin, gmbhir injured and yuwraj unfit ( you know yuvi problm) even all these 4 main batsmen ruled out from odi series against England, ( might be 2011 wc stress) And this is the only reason drvd was recalled in odi series by dhoni after around 4 and halp years drvd kicked out 2007 almost finished drvd's career that too halp of the way even Bhaji and Zaheer were struggling with injuries and ruled out odi series in England. This is the real story, drvd scored around 450 runs, but not a single match defining or winning performance. England washed out india 4/0. that's the fact. you can refer it gentleman. goodluck.
