Gandhis tryst with power has had varying results for their party and this country over the years. Some even disastrous. Indira Gandhi was hands-on politician unlike Rahul who is still being schooled by bunch of light weight "leaders".

Once a party stays out of power for 10 years it's very difficult to keep the people from leaving irrespective of the legacy. And since there are no signs of bjp losing 2024 and 2029 mostly ( just that margins of the majority will change) , only the very true loyalists will stick and to the Congress.

If he is wrong and the Congress vote dissipates in fissiparous directions, the other regional opposition parties will gain ( AAP, TMC, SP, TMC, RJD and many others), but not the group of 23 who have no one with the Gandhi name or the political clout to create a new Congress O ! There is a difference between Mohan Kumaramangalam and Kanhaiya Kumar. Mohan Kumaramangalam was a member of the CPI for a long period of time. He was an eminent lawyer and had to go underground when the CPI was banned, in the late 1940s. In fact, he came out with the Kumaramangalam Thesis, while he was in the CPI. I suggest you find out what this thesis is! Mohan Kumaramangalam's father Dr. Subarayan was the Home Minister (he was in the Congress) when his son was underground! His brother was Senior Officer, in the Armed Forces and retired as Chief of Army Staff, in the 1960s. Mohan Kumaramangalam's sister Parvathi Krishnan was a CPI MP, in the 1960s and early 1970s. This shows that there was some integrity in the system in those days. His son joined the BJP after finding that he was going nowhere in the Congress and this trend has been more pronounced today, when a stream of people is slowly turning into a flood! Kanhaiya has neither the intellect nor the commitment of a Mohan Kumaramangalam. Kanhaiya Kumar had just joined or about to join the National Council of the CPI when he jumped ship! I cannot see a future for him in the Congress, if he continues to behave in such a manner. It was one thing for Mrs. Gandhi sought the assistance of the CPI and the Left to remain in Power and play her games with the CPI and masquerade as a Leftist when it suited her, against the Congress party bosses. Rahul Gandhi has neither the intellect, the ability nor the political common sense to use this clown Kanhaiya, whose three claims to fame are that he was a student leader at JNU, that he went to jail and was defeated in the elections when he stood as a CPI candidate in Bihar. What we have is two clowns, Rahul and Kanhaiya in a sinking ship called the Congress!

Two points you missed Gupta Ji. Indira Gandhi time was when people were still in Freedom movement hangover . Most of the people were born before independence and held Gandhis and Nehru in high esteem. Now how many of that generation left. Second at that time many admired communism. Now everybody realised it is a failed ideology. Who is going to appreciate Rahul if he turns further left.

I think there are far more differences (specifically negative) than similarities. 1. Indians are more & better educated, so it’s not easy to deceive. 2. Indian economy has moved away from agrarian to service and industry oriented. 3. Capitalism is no longer a dirty word however socialism/communalism is, especially if you know history or born before 1990 economic reforms.(done by non Gandhi Congress) 4. Indira had far more charisma, power and sway than Pappu. She was far more assertive and oratory skills were far superior than Pappu. 5. The people, Pappu has bought in are very unpopular (and few in number) in most of India, the rhetoric these new people bring is also not popular or doesn’t resonate with most Indians. 6. Now, Congress allies are far more popular and powerful than Congress itself. 7. Pappu has no track record of actual governance(cm or pm). 8. Congress is seen as weak with respect to defense vis-a-vis China p, Pakistan and terrorism (like there response to A370) 9. Congress policy are targeted towards poor people, but Indians want to know his vision for service, industrial sector. 10. Congress is seen as very corrupt (last time they were in power they had way too many scams). 11. Been secularist means to make policies that are religion or caste neutral/blind. Congress is basically seen as pseudo secularist.

Every time I fail in exam...and think of giving up...Raga motivates me...😀
