Recently, while going through a bunch of videos, I came across a collection of old clips from a big railfanning road trip across the BNSF Needles sub and UP's Sunset Route that my dad and I took in January of 2014. Recorded on my old Sony DCR-SR45 camcorder, which only filmed in 480p, the quality is not that great. But with meets, side-by-side running, and lots of horn blasts from friendly train crews, I think all the action I filmed more thank makes up for it. These were also the last shots I ever took my old Sony camcorder, which served me quite well in my teenage railfanning years. Come along as we experience plenty of day and nighttime railroad activity from BNSF, UP, and Amtrak on one of North America's busiest transportation corridors!
Due to the many trains I filmed on this road trip, I've decided to split it up into two videos. This video will feature the shots from the Needles sub, while the shots from the Sunset Route will come out in a second video to be released shortly. Stay tuned!
