Railroad Crossing Bells 

There is a charm that comes with the sound of a mechanical bell that just can’t be recreated by an electronic bell.

Nothing beats those old mechanical bells!

Awesome! This is the perfect crossing bell compilation. My favorite has to be 1:07 for mechanical bells and 2:53 for e-bells. Also, an interesting mention, I actually own a WCH 2nd gen mechanical bell. I'll hopefully make a video about it sometime in the future when I have time to think about how to show it off.

I like right by a WC Hayes type 4, it’s on a crossing belonging to a regional railroad, Wheeling and Lake Erie

I’m a singer and I’ve noticed that many of these are very close in pitch. Is there a standard pitch (note) that crossing bells are supposed to be? I would imagine a study has been done to determine the note most likely to be heard by the widest cross-section of the population? These seem to range from A4 (440 Hz) to C#5 (554.37 Hz).

I miss the mechanical ones. I understand the appeal of newer tech but I just loved the sound

I've never seen those last two e-bells before. I do remember stumbling upon a video of an industrial crossing in the US that had an e-bell that sounded like an ambulance siren, but now I can't find it anymore.
