Tragic to see such quality locomotives that still have life in them being put to pasture. Between precision railroading and the decline of the domestic manufacturing base this is the net result. The future is uncertain and the end is always near! Plate C
Video opens with footage of stored locomotives, narration states "old abandoned railcars". Yeah, this is gonna go good. Looks at generic 2nd generation 2600 gallon fuel tank ... "Wow, look on the fuel tank on that sucker." Sees sold off CSX Dash-8 units with patched out logos ... "Fixed up and not painted yet, or ...? Who knows?" Did he even realize just how rare an FL9 is? Larry would be so sad at this.
Lol well I'm glad u watched my horrible commentary. I know the fl9 is rare but otherwise just taking my son to see it and learning. Thanks for the updates though! I'm always learning as we watch.
That NYC FL9 2012 needs to go to Elkhart, IN. I was just there last Wed Sept 1. They have an E8 and this would be a nice touch to the collection of NYC gear.
That's upsetting. CSX 1519 sitting there abandoned. The gp15t was originally C&O 1509, a Chessie System locomotive in her Glory Days. Now she sits there, doing nothing. I'm also upset about the New York central. That needs to be in a museum.
2012's sister 2013 is at the Danbury rail museum in Danbury CT. These were painted in 1999 for 150 year anniversary of the Hudson River Railroad in New York Central colors.
Awesome catches! I remember catching former CSX C40-8W 7338 back when it was stored at Cumberland on 9-12-20. It was 1 of just 2 7300 series Dash-8’s that were left in storage (Though they were retired on 12-31-17). It was sad to see them go.
Beginning at 06:56 thru 08:00 this video shows 4 ex CSX C40-8 units: 7320, 7363, 7338, and 7348. These 4 units were shipped to the Washington Eastern RR in Cheney WA. The 7363, 7338, and 7348 are all in service today. I am guessing that at the 3/7/2021 date of this video, they were ready to ship out of Lordstown.
So this is in Ohio? Man, I used to hate Ohio. We would go through there on the way to the Indy 500 back in the day. The rest stops along the interstates in other states were normal, _except_ Ohio. The others had toilets in buildings that flushed like in your house. Not so in Ohio. They just had toilets over top of deep holes in the buildings. No flushing. Just plops in the ground. And the damn yellow jackets and hornets would sting you in the azz while you were on those "rest stop" toilets from the 1700's. I finally started using a map of Ohio on the way to Indy, and each "rest stop" we used that had the Hee-Haw pooper got a red mark on the map. Yes, a map. No nav, no phone, a map. I was probably 13 then. So, did you ever get proper sanitation in your rest stops there? If not the Garmin has a way to cross-off the Hee-Haw poopers I suppose.
Some engines 'can' be retrofitted for more efficient use... Just saying.. Yet Nobody that HAS money wants to do it.. If "I" owned these beauties, this would be a 'final-exam' on Diesel repair and salvage TEST.. Get these diesels running, to pass my class! :) Get a 'reward' to getting them going, and more efficient.. :)
I have a video up on a drive by the bnsf fallen flag yard in Galveston unfortunately just as I’m getting to the complete area of all warbonnetts and bn vommit bonnets cops were everywhere and I had to stop filming
Do you know those engines they have so much life in them it’s not that y’all it’s a shame we can’t sell the lake to a foreign road. GP-9 do you still have a Lotta good life in her like Mexico or something like that.
Wow something I haven't seen in a very very long time is the Green and White Columbus and Greenville. The C&G Ran between Columbus and Greenville Mississippi and right through my home town. The tracks was so bad then they couldn't get over 20 MPH, we all nicknamed it the Crawl and Grunt.
Going to the scrapper? WHY? I should have a GP38, or a GP40, or an Alco switcher in my field in running condition! And I'm just a few miles from Lordstown.
This says it is is Part 1, but I don't see any other parts. I love these please post more if you have them. The "moving America forward" unit is a GE SL 110 series. Trying to place it. These were 99% made for industrial customers.
@@Shakes1420 The GE center cab was also an interesting find. Ozark rail had a number of FL9's up for sale. Never thought to look if either of the heritage units were listed.
@@oriolesfan7807 Not really. You need to have an escort from the company with you if you are shopping for locomotives, like I am. I have shopped around there for locos. I don't think they just let anyone around the locos to keep the scrappers away.
