The fact Thomas never actually promises anything for his soul. Thomas uses words like he “can” give him a “chance” at a lifetime without sorry, not he “will” give him. Truly this is an excellent example dealing with devils, you give everything and get nothing.

This puts the meme of, “its was time for Thomas to leave, for he has seen everything.” to a whole other level

Not gonna lie when Thomas spoke that was the most badass voice I've ever heard

How does he do it. He makes a premise that should be comedic and borderline parody but he actually makes deep, unnerving, bone chilling, and hell even amazing psychological horror that stands out on its own despite the ridiculous character choices and premises. Fucking Genius

Normally the whole *”Sell me your soul”* cliche is just a cliche, but this feels like it has weight to it.

I can't wrap my mind around how one dude can be so insanely talented as an animator, an incredibly gifted voice actor, creative enough to come up with all the weird, off-the-wall stuff he does, and also manages to write dialogue like a world-class poet. I'm waiting to find out if MeatCanyon is also an award-winning sculptor, classically trained pianist, world-famous pastry chef, and has published scholarly articles in the New England Journal of Medicine. I sound like I'm man-crushing on the guy, but MeatCanyon, you are very good at what you do.

The writing in these is insanely beautiful and chilling holy shit

I love how mator isnt stupid or oblivious to lightning mcqueen. Like he's still a listening caring friend who just wants his friend to feel better.

Theory: McQueen slightly lied about the dream, he in fact did sell a soul to Tomas, Mater's soul. Which is why the odd tension about the two of them being the only ones out there in the woods together.

This really does give alot of lore in the Cars Universe

A little detail I noticed was if you watch lightning’s eyes at the end for a single frame he looks up. Whether this was at thomas or god, idk, but little details like that make Meatcanyon’s work more than just a meme

The really terrifying thing was how accurate the locomotive sounds were placed.

Lightning lured Mater out there to offer his soul to Thomas. Lightning didn’t survive the wreck, he did accept Thomas’ deal. That’s why he’s so concerned about nobody knowing that him and Mater are alone in the wilderness.

I bet this is the god Eddie was talking about in jawbreaker...

The way meatcanyon writes the script is beyond excellent. He should write a netflix series like blackmirror or something

"Your soul for a CHANCE at a life without pain...or heartache...." He...he never actually promises that he'll receive these rewards. That's...terrifying. I think if Meatcanyon honestly tried directing a well budgeted million dollar movie, he'd be like goddamn John Carpenter. He's so precise with his little details, scripts, and storyline.

The dreamworld has a tree that's living on the right and dead on the left. Thomas appears from the right tunnel and leaves through the left. You comes into existence from the darkness of the tunnel, living life on the open tracks where you can actually see, only to return back into the darkness when you die. McQueen being placed in the center of birth and death implies his status of being alive. He was being asked by Thomas whether he wanted to stay where he was, or be taken along with him to the left tunnel, death.

this is by far the best meatcanyon story so far. a tale of an abyss with megalithic principles of uncertainty... serving as a marketplace for apotheosis. amazing work brother. i know its probably unlikely, but a sequel to this would be AWESOME.

The least realistic thing about this? Lightning having working headlights.

This is definitely one of meat canyons best work by far, i had goosebumps the entire video and the story is told so well to make you unbelievably uneasy. The way the dream segment is executed really adds to it, and lightnings description makes it all the more terrifying. Thomas being a grim reaper type character in this short is definitely funny on paper but meat canyon executed it so well that it fits so perfectly as a train demon. I would love to see a continuation of this story because it just does everything right with the horror, maybe in a sequel we can see lightnings friends encounter the train like sally or maybe a prequel like doc getting confronted by thomas, something like that format. But, this is definitely my favorite meat canyon short of all time.

I love how it's always thomas, it's never any other character from the series, as if every other character is just doing their normal thing like in the series, except thomas being some sort of biblically accurate angel

Now THIS is how you do creepy. No blood. No excessive gore. No over the top scares. Just atmosphere. The voices, the ambience, the silence. You don’t have to be loud to be scary. You can be quiet too.

Such an exquisitely terrifying monologue against a cartoon backdrop that somehow still manages to make me laugh. It's a rare talent MeatCanyon has to make us feel fear and happiness simultaneously. We need more like him.

This is still his best video it's so freaking epic and dark, the audio is so intense and just everything about it. Never gets old

It's wild how the words spoken give such a vivid picture, and the video gives that picture a body. I couldn't imagine it any differently. Meat canyon's imagery is beyond skilled

I think he got popular and a lot of people focus on his different art styles and weird stories, like jawbreaker which made him famous. But honestly the greatest thing about him is his astonishing story telling abilities

MeatCanyon is my favorite kind of internet wierdo. Not tons of drama. He's just a dude with a mullet, a moustache, and a dream. He reaches into our collective conciousness to make us uncomfortable in the best possible way. You are a gift to mankind. Not the gift we asked for, but the gift we all deserve, and some never knew they wanted. Never change you beautiful fallen angel.

I love how MeatCanyon make comedy-horror. Like here, where Thomas is uttering on about mortality, wishes of all one could ever want, etc. But then Mater is just being an American stereotype. It’s the perfect balance so that you can get short breaks from the disturbance. I just love it.

Did anyone else notice the tree in Lightning’s dream? On the right side, the tree is full of lush orange leaves and on the left it’s completely barren. The right side points to the tunnel Thomas emerged from and the left points to the tunnel he exits. Could the tree’s leaves symbolize the souls taken be Thomas?

Better than like 98% of the other horror shorts and movies on RU-vid.

I just noticed that his tongue curls up with his "L's" like you normally would. These small details don't go unnoticed.

Thomas voice could be described as eerie, solemn,,soothing and seductive. The kind of voice to tempt yo into giving yourself to him even knowing of the danger of taking the deal with such a fearsome inter dimensional creature.

Mater's soul was the one given, that's why McQueen took the naiive Mater to the middle of nowhere, and why McQueen says " There's nothing to be afraid of now." at the end.

I have a theory that everything meat canyon makes is connected in some way, and that this might be connected to the Edd Ed and Eddy parody. It is the Meatcanyon Cinematic Universe.

MeatCanyon is literally the perfect person for an r/imsorryjon animation

As an old Thomas and Cars fan this all fits perfectly.

This is what Meat-canyon could do with Thomas the tank engine, imagine what he could do with Bob the Builder lol

Unlike the insignificance of the characters being cars in the original series, there is a purpose these characters aren’t human. Thomas represents unalterable destiny. The tracks are fate. He has seen everything the tracks have to offer, and while he presents knowledge of the universe, his offer is meaningless. Lightning would only be able to travel the same tracks Thomas has traveled for eons. That’s why Thomas offers an empty deal to Lightning. Lightning is a car. He has control over where he can go, by extent, his future. Thomas wishes he could control his fate like McQueen could, but cannot. He is limited to the unalterable tracks of the eternal hell he’s chosen for himself. Edit: A lot of you take the “train tracks” thing to be literal, and that Thomas did not need such tracks to reach Lightning and Mater. The tracks, physically, do not exist. The tracks represent unmovable fate and existence as a whole. That means Thomas can go anywhere, but as he has seen everything, he has nowhere new to explore. No new feelings to experience. It’s possible Thomas is a dark reflection of Lightning that was offered the same deal by some unknown entity, but unlike McQueen, took the bargain and sold his soul. He is now limited to the world he knows everything about, but is burdened by the knowledge of a limited, boring existence.
