Short line railroad switching in America! Backing down an industrial railroad spur to set off 2 covered hopper cars for a customer. First the train passes a dam while running along the river. This curvy branch line has street running in Marietta, Ohio. See my 2 videos of the street runners. This video shows them work a customer on a long industrial lead north of Marietta. This is the Belpre Industrial Parkersburg Railroad or BIP. This is a new railroad company using tracks obtained from CSX. BIP operates in Ohio and West Virginia. BIP has 48 route miles and started on May 4, 2020. Some of their tracks were Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and Amtrak used the part through Belpre and through Parkersburg in the 70s. The section in this video was ex Pennsylvania Railroad that ran through Marietta to Zanesville. I mentioned the B&O because of the awesome paint scheme of these locomotives. Watch these 2 awesome EMD units as they climb over the small hill on the customers lead. Nothing beats that scene at 5:23! Nobody has any video of that and I am glad that I shot it in 4K. Trains use 160.680 and 160.260. For more information see my other videos of BIP. Filmed March 15, 2021. If you love American Short Line Railroads, then this video is for you! Hello I am commenting on your video on the BIP railroad in Marietta. I do believe this was originally a B&O line later CSX that ran from Zanesville to Marietta. Then it connected to the east/west B&O Central Ohio line from Benwood, Wv to Newark, Ohio. My Grandfather worked the line from Marietta to Zanesville when he lived in Stockport, Ohio. The B&O removed the tracks from Zanesville to Beverly around 1974/75. They kept Marietta to Beverly to which I think this is the same line you videoed on RU-vid. Thank You for what you do. All of your videos are great.

@davidstephens4625 3 года назад
The open hopper cars the train had were from Globe Metallurgical just outside Beverly...Gobe is the only rail customer left on this line past the Marietta area since the Muskingum AEP power plant in Beverly closed in 2015...the power plant closing sealed the fate of CSX retaining the line for itself as it used to get 4-6 unit coal trains a week from the early 90's to a couple of years before it shuttered.

From 7:15, the conductor is counting down the distance to the cars the locomotives are backing onto: "Three... two cars... one... half a car... [presumably he then counts down the last part in feet but that's inaudible because of the air release] that'll do." He then says "three step" to get the engineer to immobilize the locos so he can get between the rails and couple the cars' air hoses. But, yeah, mostly it's Peanuts parents.
