Lucky Catch! Train Reversing Over Old Track Under Water. Railroad Switching On Industrial Spur. Includes Norfolk Southern Intermodal Train At Big 3 Track Railroad Crossing. Female Conductor Being Trained & Riding Rear Of Train To End Of Track. These Trains Are In Circleville, Ohio In The Pumpkin City.
I was filming trains in Circleville, Ohio on the Norfolk Southern Railroad. I was checking out the old track that remains of a line that used to go across Ohio. Luckily, I was here at the right time and a local switching train reversed down the line with an EMD GP38-2 shoving 5 hopper cars of potash. I couldn't believe my luck. The train went all the way to the customer at the end of the spur. You can see on maps that this line actually extended in both directions from Circleville. We see the track up close. Notice the heavier pound used rail that replaced the old lighter rail that is sitting to the side. Ties are also being replaced and some of the crossing have been redone. The railroad crossings on this spur are cross buck protected only. It was pretty interesting to see the different color vests on the train crew. Leave a comment below about the yellow versus orange vests.
I got an intermodal train passing through town and then came back to get the locomotive running light back to the main to get its train and continue on railroad westbound. You really have to appreciate seeing a Class One railroad still using a classic 4 axle locomotive.
Filmed Tuesday, August 15, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Hello from the UK. I always find these end of the line and little branches and spurs to be so much more interesting than just watching long fast trains running along a mainline. While it looks like nothing much usually happens here, and that it has all seen better days, there is evidence that they are investing in this line's future.

@@maly2ts408 Hi. I have often wondered how many if us Brits are watching! I doubt if I would actually enjoy trains that are over 120 wagons long if I lived over there and was close to a level crossing! Anyway, I found JT and a load of other RU-vid channels during lockdown.

With railroad crossing gates to block traffic from crossing the rail line, trains don't stop on a dime. Why is there railroad crossing gates for trains in Europe, the U.K.? Trains here, in America, always get the right of way.🤷‍♂️🤔🤔

Interesting spur. Can see on the sat view how it used to be a through line -- Wash.Court House in one dir & Lancaster in the other. On the 2007 Street View (the most recent), the old tracks are still there past the present-day terminus, toward the northeast, but look disused.

Part 2 of your visit to Circleville, Ohio on 15 August 2023 was well worth waiting for, Jaw Tooth! You lucked out when the Norfolk Southern local showed up to shove those five cars of potash to the current end of the Centerville Spur. It was interesting to see that there was a female conductor in training on the train. I was disappointed that you did not follow the local train to watch it set out the potash cars. However, you did show us the work that the local train did in spotting the potash cars.

Good video, Jaw Tooth! I enjoy watching trains switch cars! Always have! Enjoyed that horn, too! That identifies that engine as ex-CR, and since it’s number is beyond the ex-SOU GP38-2’s. The Leslie horn of any type is a disappearing entity, as all railroads seem to be standardizing on Nathan’s K series. Thanks again, Jaw Tooth!

This video shows rail action in Ohio. There are some tracks in counties near me that looked similar to what is seen on the Greenfield Spur there in Ohio.the video shows. The RR owner has been upgrading the track I saw 4 years ago.

Notice the brick building right behind you. The porch on the front looks about the right height for a train to park alongside and unload. I wonder if there was ever a siding up to that porch. I followed it down to the West, along the abandoned ROW, on the Google Maps, and it looks like that side was abandoned a long time ago. You can still see the piers of the bridge over Scioto Creek, and some miles to the west (in New Holland) there's a street alongside the ROW called Pennsylvania Ave, so I'm guessing these tracks were ex PRR.
