Railway Roundabout 1959 'The Brighton Belle' 

What a classic piece of film...I'd never seen it before...thank you so much for uploading it.

Such an applaudably fine train. Oozing with Edwardian elegance. Makes me more interested in electric multiple units.

Excellent - thanks for sharing it. Takes me back to my train spotting days at Keymer Junction in the mid to late sixties. That water wagon was still a regular site at Brighton station when I started working in Brighton in 1970.B

I own this version of the Hornby 5Bel and it has very much captured my imagination regarding these units. There is something, in this age of plastic and aircraft style interior, to be said about the old world charm of these EMUs.

Remember regularly seeing this train in Coulsdon as it passed through.

not often you see a video that has zero dislikes, I`m not surprised as this is a brilliant piece of footage.

Chocolate & cream is the Great Western coach livery whilst Pullman described its own livery as "Umber and Crème" which is distinctly more classy description and fully worthy of an additional supplement in itself! You had to dine on the train- although there was a relatively cheap option available and that wasn't a bag of Smith's crisps, either!

Thank you... I use to watch her come past our playground at Bolingbroke Playground in Battersea. Of course no knowledge of her then just she was different looking (Pullman set up). Now of course as you get older you think of these things. 🤔

This is an exeiclent piece of film,I used to watch The Belle leave Brighton on a regular basis as a Schoolboy living in Brighton,one other oberseration,the spare unit was used for a short time to run the Eastbourne Pulman on sundays only

Anyone notice that the unit passing at 1:52 is a 4-SUB? Rare at Brighton even in 1959, I would have thought. Possibly a summer Saturday relief working?

I think to see those beautiful Pullman coaches and I know it was a luxurious train but one of the cars no. 90 was sadly destroyed by a fire in 1990.

Idk why but feels more like The Brighton Belle was built by The LBSCR since a lot of their trains are chocolate brown

Sadly, that's no longer the case; during the 90's/00's, one of the coaches that had been turned into a restaurant was destroyed in a fire; the other 14 do survive though.
