I like that the R-VANs are flushable to clean out grit, but I prefer the reduced application rate and increased consistency of the MP Rotators.

Great video. "Bad idea executed well" I will use that many times.

Hey Clint, When closing the arch on the MP rotators with the tool, once you get to 90deg, keep turning and it will shift the whole arch to your desired starting point without having to crack the shaft or reposition the sprinkler body. Then you just need to open the arch again to get your desired angle.

When aligning the arc, you can turn the riser, it won’t brake

Thanks fir the video. I love the fact that you didnt edit the blooper out of the final version 😉 I chose the Rvans and though they are both good choices, I love not hunting for a tool when I need to adjust them. The bad side to that is you want to adjust it everytime you watch it 🙂. Great job!

Yeah I went with R-Vans too. We just need some warmer weather before I can sit outside and watch them turn.

The MP Rotators have a lower precipitation rate making them nice for clay soils and slopes.

@waterpro what's your experience with the MP 3000 & 3500 nozzles? Seems there is an issue with them to stop rotating after 1-2 seasons?
@waterproau
@waterproau 2 года назад
This is not the first time we've had this reported to us. Not sure if it's a known issue but in my experience a manufacturer rarely admits to there being a known fault.
@ampac

I have a mix of +30 MP 1000, 2000 and 3000 (90-210°) nozzles operating for 3 seasons without any issues and am aware of other similar setups also operating without problems. These nozzles are installed on Hunter PROS-PRS40 spray bodies with pressure regulation. The rotation mechanism in the MP 1000/2000/3000 models is exactly the same, so there should be no reason for the design of the 3000s to be less reliable. Note that the recommendation from Hunter (and often from irrigation experts) is to install the MPRs in pressure regulated spray bodies. So, it can be the case that the problematic MPRs were installed on the cheaper spray bodies without pressure regulation. If the goal is to install sprinklers on a high pressure circuit without pressure regulation then you have other sprinkler options. But the MPRs are an excellent choice if you need to ensure a consistent precipitation rate while minimizing the number of circuits/zones due to pressure limitations.

hey I tried the krain equivalent very bad dead zone in first 20 inches in front of sprinkler, are rvan or mp dead zone free?
@waterproau
@waterproau 3 года назад
If the sprinklers are installed correctly - head to head - you won't have any issues. As far as the MP and RVan go, I'd say there would be an area close to the actual sprinkler that's not being watered directly but without doing an actual test I cant say so definitely. You have given me a good ide for a video though!

Can you use either of these nozzles with the Hunter SRM bodies? I have a few SRMs that have stopped rotating and am thinking of switching over
@waterproau
@waterproau 2 года назад
The Hunter or Rain Bird Pop up bodies in 4 inch will fit directly onto the thread you have and should be close to the same height. The R Van will deliver closer to the same amount of water per minute as the #3 nozzle which most people use.

Hii. Can we use hunter mp nozzles and hunter pgp rotors in a same zone.
@waterproau
@waterproau 4 года назад
Thanks for the question. There's a few ways to answer this one. 1. Yes you can. But if matched precipitation is important to you see answer number 2. 2. If you want to acheive matched precipitation with the MP1000,2000 and 3000s you'd need to used the PGP RED nozzle number 7.

I got the MP rotators but want to change them all out to the Rvans due to the MP Rotators shooting out tiny streams of water compared to the Rvans. Only benefit of the MP rotators is that it stopped my horrible water hammer due to the lower pressure.
@waterproau
@waterproau 3 года назад
Make sure you check the water required to run the R-Vans on the same line. They require more water per minute than the MP Rotators.
@ampac
@ampac 2 года назад
The R-VANs are optimal if you have sufficient flow and pressure to satisfy their minimum input. Otherwise, you will end up with an inconsistent precipitation rate or you will have to set up many small independent watering zones/circuits. If you have lower water pressure then the MPRs will be a superior option because you end up with a simpler and more efficient design. Plus, the flow rate of the R-VANs can be too high for sloped areas. These sprinklers are both excellent options, but they serve slightly different requirements.
