First time playing with a delay, was quite fun to do this!
Originally written for guitar by Rob Scallon ( • Rain - Rob Scallon ), I thought this would be a fun song to cover on my marimba. Using REAPER and the builtin delay effect at 275ms for playing at 120bpm. Took me about an hour to learn the song (most of it how I wanted to handle the dynamics), and then two hours to record because every single small mistake was much too clearly audible. In the end I settled for this take with some minor flaws, but it sounded good enough for me :)
Maybe up next a version without using a delay, however that I'll have to transcribe much more in depth!
I hope you enjoy :)
Little fun fact: I ended up using a clicktrack for the recording, because I think there was a little bit too much latency in the hardware. I could clearly hear the "real" notes coming from the marimba rather than from my headphones, and was timing the delay with those. However when listening back to the recording, the initial notes were heavily misaligned with the delayed notes and it sounded really really bad :(
