I honestly suspected that would be their ability. Also, apparently it's confirmed that The Watcher's color blends in with the "black" channel of the palette of whatever region they're in (or something like that)
This feels not like a dlc, but an entirely new Rainworld, especially with how each segment shown seems to be completely new. Extremely impressive, can’t wait to see what the Watcher holds!
@@BrunoMaricFromZagreb In case you didn't know, the entire map in rain world is surrounded by a giant wall that keeps the giant floods on the outside from sweeping things away on the inside. A stable structure that keeps the inside from being a terrible muddy mess.
Dark Souls and Rain World are the only two games that gave me back the feeling that games gave me as a kid. A sense of wonder. It felt like anything could happen.
Man I'm so grateful Videocult exist. They made my favorite game, nothing I have played can't match the uniqueness of Rain World. Truly amazing experience 👏
I wanted to leave it here for the video cult that rain world changed my life, I love this game with all my heart, so much so that I haven't stopped playing, running campaigns and designing rain world since its launch, I love the way the world is made and it's great to follow this game until possibly its end, it was a unique and unique experience (in fact, I'm Brazilian and a regular rain world artist, making art for the game helped me a lot to evolve as an artist in general) and about the new dlc, I think it will be something similar to the reclaiming entropy mod, a wonder of the world of rain world post saint with final explanations of what was left open, even the name so slugcat and "the watcher"
What I noticed is what appears to be an increased tileset. Notice how Watcher moves smoothly along those slopes? That can't happen in the current game. Also, new iteration of the main theme.
timestamps for interesting stuff i notice here !! 0:54 odd background props, sound sort of implies organs? interesting!! 1:03 still no iterators in the skyline.. huh 1:07 purple voidspawn? also watcher looks kind of invisible here there are CLEARLY darker blacks in the room for it to take the palette of - does watcher /go invisible?/ 1:09 HERMIT CRAB???
the weird creature could be a purposed organism meant as a drill too, has a drill-like mechanism on it's back mb i missed the eye stalks somehow, so it _is_ a hermit crab thing (could still be a drill on it's back though, there's weird things on it that allude to the back object either being some REALLY weird shell or a full on drill)
Has anyone looked at the logo for the watcher? Its decorated with both rot and leaves, which i think confirms that the watcher is looking at the cycles from the outside and can travel in time. The watcher most definitly is an echo.
Interestingly, if you speed up the video, it will sound like (or at least it is very close to) an iterator speaking... (I love this so much, can't wait for The Wawatcher to arrive :D)
spoilers for any new players below headcanon: ancient voice real this is what they sounded like iterators just sound like rapidly talking children compared to them
The life, death, and rebirth of thousands of creatures, each one's cycle, a ripple on the water's surface, overlapping and interfering with each other as each one's cycle endlessly expands. Honestly, a very interesting metaphor Consider: A droplet of rain pierces the still water. A ripple. A ring, ever expanding. Consider: Movement along the circumference of a ring. From one eye a loop, from one eye a spiral. From one eye the motion of a line. Consider then: A second drop. A thousandth. A multiplex of rings, spirals, interacting in countless ways. A froth. A seethe. An effervescence!
dude what the hell is going on in the background at 0:56 . cool asf i dont think we've ever seen the background elements be quite that animate and weird before
I really like that rain deer - like drill creature at the end. Looked very interesting. Also, the scene where we see purple versions of the void spawn.
Seeing a lot of people talk about how they don’t have new creatures that they can add but like … there’s so many real animals adapted to aquatic regions that they haven’t touched, and so many mechanic options that I can think of……. Where’s my frog critter……. Where’s my freaky as fuck water strider or giant water bug… can we get a ssssea snake type thing, or a snake in any capacity really . . . Just imagine……..
I loved it when the Watcher said “it’s watchin’ time” and then watched all over the place In all sincerity though, this is gorgeous. I love rain world for its good sense of organism ecology, and while I adore the iterators’ stories in Downpour, I want to know more about the ecosystems left in their wake!
keep in mind, in one of the dev commentaries, they said that they made the effects for the snow and the big stuff as underwhelming as possible, so the world's gonna look even better than this.
On the creatures, first we see these very weird things in the metal and moving like a heart with is supported by the heart beat sounds, weird purple versions of the yellow creatures that you free from those orbs, and lastly this gigantic snail creature with a seemingly metallic shell and a bunch of RainDeer legs. Also in the purple fish part, the Watcher is transparent so this supports the idea that the watcher is able to turn invisible
