I'm 54 and still love zippy 😂...used to go home at lunchtime from junior school in the 70s and watch Rainbow...and I come back to watch him on RU-vid 😂
RIP to the wonderful Geoffrey Hayes. Many, many happy hours spent watching Bungle, Zippy, George, Rod, Jane and Freddy. Rainbow 🌈 will always have a special place in my heart. ♥️

Zippy is stroppy, rude, loud-mouthed, arrogant, conceited and selfish. All things I usually don't like in people. But for some reason, those things are why I LOVE him! :D
Never realized how near the bone and well observed this show was. Teaching kids about narcissistic sociopaths like Zippy , and that they'd probably meet them in life - amazing. Wish I'd paid more attention to it when I was 3
@Dominic Keefe, I agree with your observation, but disagree with the educational part, as the show did NOT provide any helpful strategies how to distinguish childish behaviour from sociopathic tendencies, or how to cope with the abusive and toxic relationships that in the end only served the abuser. Zippy gradually forced his will upon the household and boundaries were constantly moved by his cunning use of break-and-apologize-tactics.
I’am very upset at the passing of Geoffrey Hayes who died today and what a terrific guy , who made many of us happy growing growing up in 70’s watching Rainbow with Geoffrey and Zippy and George with Bungle . God Bless and R.I.P Geoffrey Hayes you’ll be greatly missed by young and old everywhere .

Used to watch this as a kid thinking how mean and nasty zippy was. I watched this today 39 years later thinking he was fcking hilarious and how could I have missed it 😂
The mind boggles thinking how these four came together. Lol. Think about it. A pink talking hippo, a wannabe talking bear, a Gollum lookalike with a zip for a mouth, and then there's Geoffory, who is their surrogate father. He loves them like only their own mothers could. Lol
George and Zippy have only a left arm and a right arm, respectively. I think they were conjoined twins that got separated. Severely deformed conjoined twins.
Sam Holden I found it creepy as a kid and I showed my 13 year old son the show and he found it creepy. I relate to Zippy, I'm sure they'ed show him popping Ritalin these days.
He shows more than just narcissistic traits. Zippy has all the traits of a sociopath. He regards himself as the best qualified person for everything, but he still needs others (as lower pawns) to keep his illusion intact.
He displays a scheming nature with little regards for the wellbeing of others, but still restricted by fear for rejection, scolding or punishment. He knows when he's out of bounds but believes that he's entitled to be the exception to the rules, and struggles emotionally with the concept of others not accepting this simple truth (his reality).

Zippy is a good age now, I didn't know that the real reason reason why Zippy has a zip over his mouth is to try prevent him from smoking crack! Some things never change lol 😂
Bungle is too small to be Chewbacca and too big to be an ewok so had to settle for being Jeffrey's side kick. He has since developed a drinking problem and has never gotten over the disappointment.
bought tears to my eyes so funny, everyone can relate to a zippy type character, thats why its funny, lets not forget the classic gesture of zipping up the mouth and throwing away the key came from this :)
