Love your videos. We have a five year old and thinking of getting a camper van. So great to see your family oriented videos with lots of wonderful ideas.
I haven't got a cover for my pop top but when cleaning the van roof, I stupidly used the extending ladders, that you are using for access. To protect the edge of the van, where I placed the ladders, I even placed a towel beneath the ladder, to stop it marking the metal on the van. Later my son noticed three small dents in the metal, which I then realised what did it. I got the dents out later by using a paintless dent repairer, when he was sorting out a small parking dent at the same time. The outcome is that I would never use and place a ladder on the side of the van again. The metal is very thin there and there is no structural support for it to support the weight of you plus a ladder. I now use a set of free standing tall steps, with no further problems.
Hi, really enjoyed your video. I wondered if you ever considered making a video showing how to measure the pop top accurately? We have a VW California and I spoke to the owner at Rainbow last year and mentioned that I was worried incase I made a mistake with my measurements. He said that one day, he may ask a friend to make a video, to show the best way to do this but never got round to it. I think it would be brilliant if you could do this. Thanks for reading my reply Glenn
We have a Thule Oniminster Awning. It’s fitted with specific VW brackets. We had it fitted professionally…I didn’t like the thought of drilling something into the van! Thanks for watching!
Blimey what a faff. So you need a ladder. Limited space. Why on earth you need one. Better if pop top manufacturer would make one . When it's raining and wet it must create condensation when packed away. George
