@@sammyallen428 the first keyboard player was Mickey Lee s o u l e who was replaced by Tony Carey who was then replaced by David Stone you get the idea Ritchie love to replace band members cheers
Tony Carey on keyboards (very good intro), the great Cozy Powell on drums, Jimmy Bain on bass, the fantastic Ritchie Blackmore (the man in black) on guitar and superbe Ronnie James Dio (RIP) on vocals. One of the best Rainbow's track ever... this song is 36 years old!!!
Today’s society is addicted to amazon and looking at social media. Because it’s easy and learning an instrument is harder than pushing a button or rapping into a microphone a bunch of unintelligible non-sense that has no meaning or substance...so I blame the parents that let your goofy kids have no substance. I’m 35 and I love this music btw and I actually play instruments
The fabric of society, has lost its soul. It has been hijacked by the socialists of the world who think their way is the best yet they always clamour for the democratic way of life and the rewards it brings . Just shows how stupid today’s generation really is .
I was there in 1977 ! The concert was delayed because of Ritchie (trouble with the police,as always)! Suddenly there was the child voice of Judy Garland talking about a rainbow rainbow rainbow.....BAAAM !!! INFERNO!!! Out of fuckin nowhere 'Rainbow' was there ...including Ritchie completely under fire !! They started with something that I couldn't reconize because Iwas frightened to death !! The volume was the blast of hell !! The fans went mad . It was 'Kill the king' ! And it was absolutely magic. I was 16 and I know I'll never forget !
No one ever realizes what a gift to us having great musicians really is......but once they're gone, their legacy lives on forever for true lovers and connoisseurs of music forever.
This is one of the times in music history that geniuses, that otherwise would never work with each other, just so happen to write music together and give us such astounding songs! It's natural that personalities like Richie and Ronnie would inevitably clash, but that golden period of time, that narrow window of them working together has given us these gems.
Of course Ronnie James Dio's voice and lyrics are perfect in this song. But Richie Blackmore's guitar solo in this song is the greatest I've ever heard. It's not just fast shredding, it is haunting and mystical, cuts to your very soul.
I met Ronnie one of the nicest people in Rock, what a front man. RIP Ronnie🤘Blackmore was on fire on this tour, I was at the front at Hammersmith. Dio never missed a note!🎶
I say it a lot and usually get shit for it, but those 3 Dio Rainbow albums are better than anything Blackmore did for Purple, or Dio would do for Sabbath or Dio... As much as I love Purple, Sabbath and Dio. Ronnie and Ritchie together was just magical. Dio's lyrics and voice just matched Blackmore's old world/baroque/classical tinged songwriting better.
I saw them right after Dio left. Powell was out and Paice was drumming ,Glover was on bass, and Graham Bonnet was vocals. Concert sucked. I wanted original rainbow
@@slycordinator Milwaukee Wisconsin. Yes it was pretty much Rainbow except it was in the midst of Difficult to Cure tour. Played mostly Rainbow material from the recent releases. Very little Rising Material.
@@robertruck5501 Graham Bonnet quit early in the writing process of Difficult to Cure. The album and tour were done with Joe Lynn Turner as the vocalist.
God, Ritchie owned the rock guitar stage this year -- I remember staring at the cover of this album and knew it was a piece of magic before I even heard one note... GREAT!
RIP Ronnie : 12 years today you passed away.....You are A Light in the black. Stargazer and a light in the black: masterpieces. It's two tracks but one for me.
ronnies voice sounds amazing.god rainbow was awesome with ronnie.i was fortunate to see rainbow with ronnie with sabbath etc great singer, great person,he is deeply missed r i p ronnie, the man on the silver mountain!
One of my favorite songs of all time. But this version nails it - fantastic intro, great guitar play, incredible drums and of course a singer who is the wizard himself. Love it!
concerts are not like this anymore. i'm glad i was alive and old enough to see this incredible band, and so many others, play, really play this awesome music.
I just love how Ritchie Blackmore never plays the same song the same way live I've never seen so much heart and Talent come through a guitar in my life
@@David.diaz.13let's not limit Ronnie to just "metal"...one of the greatest voices in rock and even pop music, and one of the longest and most varied careers of all. He's in his mid-30s on this performance with already more than a half a lifetime of material and performances. And all along, he stayed true to his vision and art...we probably will never see his like again.
Dio just speaks for himself but everything about Blackmore's playing on this track just melts my brain. This combo though is peak metal. Nothing beats this.
Saw Rainbow on the first album tour, and again in 78, then in 96. Missed this tour. Ritchie was always unique, no concert was ever the same. if he was on, dam he was great.
Carey on the intro keyboards is just amazing. Blackmore always played with some greats, Don Airey, {who went to Ozzy} Tony Carey, not to mention John lord, then add all the other great musicians and you got some of the greatest talent ever to have played with in rock... Legend!
Totally agree. I remember when this first came out. I thought this was the best Rainbow album. And this was the best song. For me its still one of my best kick ass rock songs of all time. RIP Dio!!
The music Ronnie and Richie made together is remarkable and I only hope Richie can look back and see the magic he was part of with the early Rainbow members and the mark it left in rock & roll.
@Bass Boulevard Причем здесь ДП?Я,конечно,полюбляю их Блэкморовский знаменитый вкуснейшие рифак к smoke on the water,но,блин,это клиенты к другому видео.Слава Ричи!
I got to see them at Royal Oak music theater back in 78'. Caught the neck of Ritchies' broken neck, my buddy got to shake Ronnie's hand. I missed seeing Toney play as they had replaced him for Long Live, Rock n Roll. I was 15 years old, this was an incredible day, got to see Cozy drum. Amazing. Nobody wanted them to stop playing. Remember hearing Ritchie jamming on his own before the crowd came in.Couldnt wait to get to our seat. About 40 years ago, still feels like it happened yesterday. Went home and tried jamming the tunes on my Hammond M3 like Toney did on the On Stage album. Turned up my stereo full blast so I could re-experience the concert. What a memory!
I have enjoyed this Concert on the 27.9.1976 in Düsseldorf/Phillipshalle. A friend of mine take a record on a SABA cassette recorder- but this here is much better from the quality! Thanks for this! Generaly Ritchi play Stargazer not often in this Concert Tour. And Ronnie James Dio(RIP) was a Lyrical Highlight! And we will also Remember Craig Gruber(Bass on the 1. Album- Rainbow) who dies of cancer aged 63 in April 2015. The Line up of this tour was: Ronnie James Dio> Vocals Tony Carey > Keyboard Cozy Powell > Drums (RIP) Jimmy Bain > Baß Ritchie Blackmore > Guitarre The best deal was Cozy at this time. His Solo Projekts flopps- and he need a new job. Now the man in Black circeld the rules of Membershipping. I`ver saw Concerts in Colonge 1978 , but this doesn't mach this Concert in Düsseldorf.
Sting (police) played in Argentina in the 80s, The military Junta was still ruling and you probably know Sting always was very involved with human rights, so probably Rainbown did not play due another reason
Yep, and there was also a Queen concert in Argentina, they even mentioned the regime in their documentary, with the soldiers walking around, many of them on the stadium, too.
one of the most pivotal bands to come from this time period . just absolutelty astounding . amazing talent just unmatched? and now DIO, COZY IS NOW STARGAZING DOWN ON US? RIP?
Had the great pleasure of seeing this lineup play this song as a 16yo in late November 1976 in Adelaide on the Australian leg of their world tour. Was my first international band rocket concert. It left a lasting impression on me as they were the best live rock band in the world at the time. I can 'see' those 2 magnificent backdrops & the moving rainbow. It was stunning!
My brother and I were at that concert, Festival Centre. Best venue in Adelaide. Awesome sound, spectacular show with that Rainbow. Will never forget Cozy's 1812 drum solo. Just astonishing. What a superb group of musicians!!!!!
I saw Ronnie in sacred heart tour and omg he was fabulous one of the best concerts ever now in Rainbow with my favorite guitar player in the world ever would have been spectacular! Miss you Ronnie you made me happy with your mystical presence!! R.I.P
Saw them 30yrs. ago, dios vocals were powerfull, Blackmores solos were blistering,3 thousand seats only, I mean heads, you stood right in front of the stage it was weird,Richfield Colliseum, 4 lilly f-40s then they were called REDS.concert was fantastic..Axeflyer MD.
I met Ronnie JamesDio. I was a big fan. I had seen Rainbow, at the Rainbow, Findsbury Park. Ritchie Blackmore, probs the fastest and best guitarists after Michael. Cook (I.Q.), did a 3 minute encore strop, moody fuck, dissing his band, I was backstage, at Wembley, with Iron Maiden. They recorded daughter to the slaughter,.after the gig, was in the dressing room with Dave and Adrian, VIP passes so security very polite and access all areas, in walks a very big man, turfs us out, VIP, what? Oh, of course, five foot Ronnie and two six foot bouncers minced in, flipping Diva,. Great vocalist. He helped to revive Sabbath. God bless you RJD but.
Holy Jesus just found this. Daaamn its just freaking awasome. So much ahead of the time! I was born in 89 but bands like this is My kind of music!!! 😎🤘🤘🤘 Oh an R. I. P dio 😢😢😢
I'm sure they tweaked this song multiple times live, but this is pretty damn good. Sounds like it's in a different key. The haunting backing on the solo is great too. And considering this is not even a polished, top-notch recording, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thx for posting.
Rainbow's songs allways have some magic in sound. When I was young man I talked with one old russian hippy. He said: if you listen Rainbow you can't be a bad man. Probably, its true
Awesome lineup, awesome song, awesome performance... I doubt we'll ever see so many icons of hard rock and heavy metal again combined in one band or performance...
