This song would always play on the radio when I was younger. And every time I heard it, for some reason an image of ancient Mayan/Aztec civilization would always appear in my head.

I am 61 and grew up listening to deep purple, zepplin and black sabbath but I have to say Rainbow with Ronnie are my favorite.I run a small facebook group called Aussie Rock and great music and every time I put up a Dio song it gets many likes and comments.
I was cleaning my garage when this came up on spotify. I found myself standing there on the dusty concrete floor, staring into my eyelids. I then had to go in for a shower, because face it, you do cleanse yourself before even touching a keyboard to write about Dio. All contemporary and future musicians, give up, because the greatest and best song is already written. I want to go on, but there's no words for it...
Amazing to me after all these years how metal/hard rock can be so simplistic and beautiful yet strong and how many ranges and styles of metal there are!! And how these songs never fade or go out of style!! Rock on forever!!🤘
This song I 1st heard in a Tibetian shop at Mall of Darjeeling of West Bengal, India in 2019 ,after listening at once I downloaded it and now I am trying to sing it in Starmaker, excellent creation especially the piece of guiter.
9 years ago when I first heard Rainbow, I was addicted to cocaine and later moved on to meth. I used to listen this song sniffing hugeeee rails always calmed me from being more destructive. 9 years later I'm 3 and a half years clean at this point listening to to this song in 2022 thinking back wow..
Still the best Rainbow song ever! Imagine to my surprise when I acquired a copy of Rainbow's Greatest Hits and it wasn't included?! I was mortified! I had to put that right. I like the Scorpions version too but there's only one Ronnie James Dio R.I.P.
Timeless... Blackmore always used classical, midieval and middle eastern influences and updated them for his music.. the vibe from his music goes beyond just the present....🖤❤️🖤

mitchell wright I saw him twice ...Carbondale,IL '86 and New Haven, CT '96 front row during Dio's tour ... I almost got a guitar pick from Vivien Campbell if not for that white boy who grabbed it off my finger tips from behind ... Vivien was shoving his right hand towards my face .. thought it was part of his act, but actually he wanted to hand over his pick to me and that one guy grabbed it as I already touched the pick..😠😨💔
One day, in the year of the fox Came a time remembered well, When the strong young man of the rising sun Heard the tolling of the great black bell. One day in the year of the fox, When the bell began to ring, It meant the time had come for one to go To the temple of the king. There in the middle of the circle he stands, Searching, seeking. With just one touch of his trembling hand, The answer will be found. Daylight waits while the old man sings, Heaven help me! And then like the rush of a thousand wings, It shines upon the one. And the day has just begun. One day in the year of the fox Came a time remembered well, When the strong young man of the rising sun Heard the tolling of the great black bell. One day in the year of the fox, When the bell began to sing It meant the time had come for the one to go To the temple of the king. There in the middle of the people he stands, Seeing, feeling. With just a wave of the strong right hand, hes gone To the temple of the king. Far from the circle, at the edge of the world, Hes hoping, wondering. Thinking back on the stories hes heard of What hes going to see. There, in the middle of a circle it lies. Heaven help me! Then all could see by the shine in his eyes The answer had been found. Back with the people in the circle he stands, Giving, feeling. With just one touch of a strong right hand, they know Of the temple and the king.
first time i heard the song was in 1981, i was in kindergarten then. elementary i've memorized the lyrics. only in my high school i've figured it was the great RONNIE JAMES DIO sung this great song. So i bought my first DIO record, Lock up the wolves. Hail to Ronnie James Dio's undying music!

The era is lost forever. Rainbow, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rare Earth, The undisputed Truth. Living in a hopeless world today where technology taken over the artistic legends of all times. Such a humbug and hopeless music today.
I can’t believe I’d never heard this before it’s basically exactly what I was looking for I wanted to hear Dio sing like this I always loved hearing him sing like this on some of his other tracks and still can’t get enough of it
