Trout fishing from a kayak is always so much fun!!! Rainbow trout are stocked for recreational fishing on every continent except Antarctica. Most lowland lakes in Washington have stocked trout. We went out for another fun mini adventure to troll for trout, cast at them from the kayak, and get a little bit of underwater footage to see things from the fish's perspective.
I'll try pretty much anything....trolling crankbaits for trout, casting spoons, casting spinners...I also tried trolling flies for trout for the first time. I'm not a fly fisherman but I don't see why I can't just troll flies from the kayak. Much less skill required 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you. I have a renewed interest in fishing after a 20-plus year lapse and a cross-country move to the PNW. and your videos helps remind me how fun fishing can be. By the way, I copied what you did, trolling and casting spinners and minnow lures from my kayak and caught my limit of trouts last Sunday. Yeah!

You got that right!!! I feel like I should be skipping to the boat launch and singing songs with the birds or something. The total lack of seriousness makes it just ridiculously fun. If you lose a fish, no worries, there'll be another one. Can't say that about a lot of other fishing. It's like a mental reset fishery for me lol.

Have you fished the main part of the lake? I tore it up there the other day between 8 and 20 feet. As for trolling flys try putting an action disc from wigglefin tackle in front of the fly. It gives them crazy action. If you do facebook I'd like to invite you to join the kitsap kayak and fishing group. Nice catch.

Yeah, I fished the main part too and caught one nice one trolling the rapala with a 1oz weight about 25 feet back. Fished that deeper hole in the NE area too but didn't get anything there. Thanks for the fly trolling tips! It's something I've never really done before. I thought about putting a dodger or a spin-n-glo in front of the fly but then got lazy. I'll have to check out the wigglefin action disc! Yep I'm on FB, just not super active lol. I'll put in a request to join the group!

When you catch one, What's the best way to store them? Do you cut the gills to bleed it and just hang it on the stringer or leave them live on the stringer? If you put them in a cooler, cut the gills and bleed first or just bonk'm and into the cooler? Thanks for the info!

I don't really find it necessary to bleed stocked trout. If they were larger fish or rockfish I would but these little trout don't need it. I usually just throw them on the stringer in cooler weather. Once the water warms up in the lakes though I bonk em and put em in a cooler with ice, still don't bother with bleeding...but that's just me lol.

Hey Toni :) Yeah, changed the channel name a few months ago. Looks like you did too lol! Is Wannafish a lure your business? I'm sure you'll see me out with the new kayak at some point this year, definitely squid fishing lol. The kayak is beautiful and super bright and impossible to miss lol. How's the fishing been for you lately?

@@SeaWolfFishing Since you changed yours I figured out how to do mine. I have had a lure business but now because of health I can't do it anymore. It will be nice to see you if I am out. I just went out for the first time at American Lake April 11. I didn't do as well as my son did. He started chasing the marks from the fish finder that showed on the bottom and got his fish. He usually out catches me...

🤣🤣🤣 I definitely need a new one lol. My old one has such a short handle that it doesn't get me very far on the Old Town because it sits up higher than my Hobie...and I have short arms lol. I lose more fish than I should without a good net lol.

@@SeaWolfFishing I had the same problem, I trout fish out of a 18' jet sled most of the time and lost tons of fish doing the boat flip or not having a long enough net. I bought an Ego Reach Rubber net and love it!
