Outstanding setup Pete. This should serve you and the family well for dire times ahead. Always good to plan and be prepared. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Pete that is a really nice set up you have. I wanna thank you for your awesome tutorials, hard work and very knowledgeable skills you share.God Bless 👍
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Pete 🙏🏼 I just found your page and loving it already, I was born in Iran but grow op in the Netherlands. In this crazy times we are leaving in I just dream to have my own homestead one day! I thank you again of the bottom of my heart for speaking the truth and sharing your thoughts and knowledge, God bless 🙏🏼❤
I've been living solely off rain water for over 3 yrs. I preserve my own meat, fruit and veggies. Yes I stock up on things like flour, sugar and salt that I can't make here. Alot of folks are going to wake up too late.
Thank you, yes it would be a good idea to bypass the filter and I still might do that. The filter I installed is just a sediment 20 micron filter so it shouldn't have much resistance.
Sounds like you are doing this project for exactly the same reasons I have watched your process so closely. We have exactly the same water issues and needs here. Lots of iron in the water and a two tank softening/filtering system in place here as well. You hit the nail on the head for all of your other points too. So many issues in the world today and it makes you wonder why. Big agendas are in place! Everyone really needs to prep and take matters into their own hands. Worse times are on the way for sure. Thanks for sharing your work. Also, it’s terrible we have to speak in code or risk being censored! Now I know why there was an ammo shortage just before all this stuff started happening!
Good video and a very good point of view ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 In the future can you show us your gym side of the shop ? And some exercise too ?! Greetings from Germany ! 🇩🇪
Thanks for your videos, Pete. Lots of good information! I recently laid about 100 yards of the poly pipe. I used a subsoiler with a 2" PVC sweeping 90 attached at the bottom of the subsoiler. Then you can feed the tubing through the elbow. It trenches and buries the pipe all at once. Then ran over the area a couple of times with the tractor and I could hardly tell where we had buried it. It took 3 of us about 30 minutes to do it. Extremely easy. I don't know where you are located but I am in Troup, TX. You would be more than welcome to borrow the subsoiler. Spot on with your comments at the end. Keep up the good work. God Bless!
Thank you, Yes I have a subsoiler I used to burry an electrical line to my well a few years ago and did a video on that too. But the poly pipe I'm using now it too thick and stiff for that. It's a 1-1/4 inch 200 psi pipe with extremely thick walls but I got a good deal on it.
Good video Pete. Here on our little 5.5 acres in Central Oregon, we have the cistern, well, backup generator, greenhouse, freeze dryer, vacuum sealer, canning instruments, chickens, etc. Obviously, we have food stored as well. What we don't have is solar power. What's your recommendation? Cheers
Sounds like you are ready, but it would be nice if you had solar. Solar is still very expensive and I would buy as big a system as you can afford. 5000 to 8000 watt solar array would be good and run most everything even an AC system. I hear Sol-Ark makes a pretty good inverter.
The reason for the shipping backlog in California is due to not enough trucks compliant with California's new emissions requirements. So as the backlog of trucks led to running out of storage space for unloaded containers, that led to more ships waiting to offload. Self inflicted due to stupid and unrealistic regulations. And for Joe to say, they're going to operate the port 24/7, is just stupidity. The ports were already running 24/7 during "normal" times before the new emissions regs. SMH
You are so right Pete ... Love your set up ... Your planning and the work you have done has been educational and fun to watch. Did you video the pump installation?
Pete! Off topic....but I can't find your video on what flour you guys use. It helped your wheat sensitivities. I know it was Italian..."Caputo" maybe....but which one? Thanks! Keep up the great videos!
Here's the video I did on the flour and I've had no problems with this flour at all. Affiliate links are in the description under the video, Thanks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V23T90-Fb84.html
Dumb question: Will the setup be different if the tanks are buried underground? If yes, how would you set it up differently? (pump, pressurized tanks?) Thanks!
No it won't be any different because I'm using a shallow well pump but you would have to prime the pump to get it started. I wouldn't be able to bury these types of tank because they will collapse, but they do make a ribbed tank that can handle being buried.
I am in the Army National Guard and I had drill today and the amount of incorrect information and intimidation was sickening. We have to get the shot or we are out. This is insane, unfair, and unconstitutional.
Questions... what would you recommend for land and trailer to do first... besides the water source, shelter, access and power grid... is like the egg or the hen LOL
Have you thought about doing a training class on water catchment? I appreciate the videos, but would not mind seeing this in person. I know people value their privacy, I definitely do. I was just curious. I am in Houston and would be interested, if you ever set something up. I plan on buying one to two acres outside of Harris county(those bastards middle name is tax to death)and I want to do a rain catchment for drinking water and overall redundancy. Livestock is out of my range, but the garden and green house is something that I am extremely interested in. Cheers and much health...
For privacy reasons I Don't usually have people come by. But I might do a complete video tour of the system explaining how things work. Yes Harris county is getting bad on taxes. Fortunately you're not in the Houston city limits or you would be paying a stupid amount of property taxes. You definitely want to get out of the city. You need to move farther out away from Houston to get a decently priced property and much lower taxes. I feel that the way the world is going right now it won't be long before the cities will be the last place you want to be.
@@petebeasttexashomesteading I completely understand the privacy part. I am new to the concept of homesteading. I also found a channel called, "Engineer775." He has a amazing channel too. Thank you for making the videos. I appreciate it.
The rain water catchment system is coming along nicely Pete, question on your shop. I see you have what is common as far as the insulation goes how do you like it, does it help in the summer time and I wonder if that spray in foam you see some people going with is a better option? Appreciate your feedback, David.
The insulation works great at keeping it warmer in the winter and a little cooler in the summer as long as you keep the doors open for a cross breeze. Without the insulation, it would heat up in there like a tin can out in the sun.
