I’ve always loved the fact that the Scottish ruler was called “King of Scots” and not “King of Scotland” because the king was considered to be the leader of the people, not holding dominance over the land itself which existed independently. The responsibility was to the people. And if the king failed in his responsibility to his people then he no longer deserved his power - a concept Robert took very seriously. He died greatly beloved.
I appreciate the long versions of Get Sleepy stories. I have a lot of sleep disturbances and often need further assistance beyond the stories (i.e. additional music/ambient sounds) thank you!
*Thomas, it's such a pleusure to learn about Scotland's history through your nice and resting voice. Thanks and hugs to you and all team from Brasil.* 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
With Scots ancestors and a visit only recently really brought back some memories, very much appreciated and no history is boring it's what defines us, thanks again.
Before you drift into the world of dreams, take a moment to appreciate the day you've had and the challenges you've conquered. May the night bring you tranquility and the gentle embrace of sleep. And when you awaken to the morning light, may it infuse you with newfound energy and optimism. Goodnight, my wonderful friends. Sleep peacefully and awaken to a brand new day filled with opportunities 🌙😴💓💤💗✨😊
I really enjoyed this history and it did not put me to sleep LOL like a boring history class would. Perhaps an idea for future series could be something like historical legends, similar to a fairy tale telling with a disclaimer at the beginning of course that this is just a legend . I noticed in comments that different viewers prefer music or non-music at the end of the story . It might be helpful if in the caption right after the title it says story lasts until X many minutes and then background music starts. It helps the OCD mind know and plan even though it's supposed to be shutting down Especially if it's a story I'm interested in sometimes I struggle to stay awake to hear the end of it. But I definitely appreciate the extended music afterwards because then when I wake up in the middle of the night it soothes me right back to sleep❤❤❤ I know it's impossible to make everybody happy all the time but being able to sleep again has been a blessing, thank you so much
Glad i got this on my feed. Im always looking for great sleep focused channels, usually i do the meditations or hypnosis ones but this was a nice change
With the day behind us and the night upon us, it's time to recharge both body and soul. May you find solace in the silence of the night and wake up tomorrow with a heart full of hope and determination. Goodnight, everyone. Sleep deeply and let the magic of the night restore you, so you can face the day ahead with a smile ☺✨🌜💤💞😴
My first and middle names are Bruce Robert and Ive got 4th generation ancestry in the UK. Ive always been fascinated by the Scots and their fierceness. Thanks for that narration
I love your sleep stories. I usually fall asleep before the end, which is pretty good for me. I have such difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. The only problem is the ads at the end of the videos. They wake me up and then I toss and turn, trying to get back to sleep.
This story just made me want to know more. What kind of king was he? He did marry ? How many children did he have? How did he die? Could've been a longer story and not so much music...just thoughts and suggestions Otherwise great story
I’m a descendant of Robert the Bruce, along with many others, and since he’s considered Scotland’s greatest king, there is a wealth of information about him. He was married twice (the first wife died young), and had a daughter from the first wife and a son from the second. Both his daughter Marjory and second wife Elizabeth were held hostage during the War of Independence and ransomed back after the great victory of the Battle of Bannockburn. He died in his bed - not of leprosy, which was a rumor spread by the English (and disproven by the fact that the Royal children were allowed to play on his bed as he was dying). It was probably some kind of lung condition from too many years of hardships and outdoor living. Check out Chris Pine in “The Outlaw King” if you can. It is highly historically accurate - much more so than “Braveheart” - from events to costumes.
More fun facts about Robert. His mother was from an ancient Celtic line that included Welsh nobility such as Llewelyn the Great, and his father’s side was Norman. The Get Sleepy story was right that he and his brothers - and sisters - were well educated. Robert spoke fluent Norman-French, Gaelic, and Scots (a separate language) which meant that he could converse with any of his diverse followers, and also Latin. He enjoyed reading to his men around the campfire. One of his sisters was married to the King of Norway and another, Christina, was held captive by the English for years and hung in a cage outside the Tower of London, miraculously surviving to be ransomed after Bannockburn. All but one of his younger brothers were captured and suffered the same fate as Wallace.
Yes. 🙄 Its bobeys Time 💘. ( Once Again. ) Thank You 💞 I got a big day tomoz. 🙄 So looking forward to a good nights sleep ( Perchance to do 💘😻 dream ) 🙄 I feeling very dizzy. Have i been here before ?
FAIL. I love Get Sleepy and very much dislike adding a negative comment. The story and music were great, as always, but at the end of the long soothing, sleep-inducing audio, a LOUD COMMERCIAL came on, awakening me and leaving me unable to fall asleep again quickly. I noticed there were ads at the beginning - which is new but no problem at all - I want the channel to be successful. But ending the video with a commercial that wakes me up totally defeats the purpose and is one of the reasons (along with Thomas’ wonderful voice) I listen to Get Sleepy and not the other sleep channels. I don’t know how much control the creators have over these things, but PLEASE reconsider!! Thank you!
