I'm amazed by how high quality of a shitpost the game is. It perfectly straddles the line between "haha epic funee" and "you can tell someone under the age of 10 made this" while also having effort put into it
1:00 is that the voice clip from the episode of Cold Ones where Chad does a Joe impression for an online animation? Am I the only one who caught that? Or am I tripping?
this game is a breath of fresh air. they don't make video games like this these days. it seems to me that all you see is violence in movies and sex on tv. where are those good old fashioned values on which we used to rely? we're lucky there's a family guy.
Fun fact, they got the hard ending, which is only available after you beat the game on normal difficulty. This means he beat the game twice. Truly the best Roblox RU-vidr of all time.
for those who don't know, if you steal from the shop, you get stopped right by the door and you're unable to move, then the shopkeeper shoots you with a gun.
Brilliant game. So much gameplay variety that rewards you for mastering the mechanics. It flawlessly integrates lore and gameplay in a way that is both fun and creative. All the characters are well written and instantly lovable. This is the best game of the 21st century and maybe even of all time. And this game saved my marriage. 8.5/10
This game is how Dunkey trained for fatherhood. I think he'll be good at parenting, now that he knows about the double money glitch for letting the baby eat the poops
All jokes aside, I was astonished by the rising complexity and especially the great humor, for instance the Fortnite card, absolutely ridiculous, this game is pure comedy. At first I thought this was a Cookie Clicker type game in Roblox, at the end I was floored by the genuine effort that was put into this masterpiece. Giving it a go right away tomorrow after work :D
peter type games are truly the pinnacle of gaming as an art. Such an elevated message and theme. A true masterpiece that will surely redefine gaming and inspire generations to come.
Stupid Americans will never be able to understand the avante garde nature of Peter-types, they just want to play their stupid shooting games like call of duty or Roblox
Aside from the absurdity and humor of it, as someone who has poured their heart and soul into making levels on LBP it makes me really happy to see something like this--with all the effort that's clearly gone in--get this much love and recognition. It's silly but it's always nice when UGC gets recognized to this degree
@@kshitijsharma2200 That would surprise me really, given that the channels in the "quality comedy content" sphere seem to attract each other. Especially since video game parodies are quite frequent on Joel's channel.
Has anyone ever wondered how dunkey just sounds and looks like peter griffin with similar humour sense, dunkey is literally like if peter was a smart person with an interest in gaming.
Idk, to me the characters in this game feel like cardboards. Hollow and empty shells that lack personality and depth so plain they are almost like a 2D images moving around and playing sound files
I genuinely think that a lot of deep inferences can be made about the nature of engaging games and how games with a really simple basic structure can be made arbitrarily complex/fun by adding various elements that reinforce and further develop various aspects of the basic skeleton. But first I'd like to clarify what I mean by two specific terms: "novelty" and "interconnectivity" : The term "novelty" when used in relation to a game mechanic refers to how different the actions performed by the player are from the regular game loop before the mechanic is introduced. An example of a novel game is Hollow Knight, or any good MetroidVania; In these games you constantly allow the gameplay to evolve, allowing the players to alter the primary way in which they interact with the game: the movement, this allows players to see the whole world in a different way, allowing the devloper to account for this new view and hide secrets and puzzles in previously visited areas, now totally changed by the way in which the player can move. Now the term "interconnectivity" refers to how well new mechanics synergize with the pre-existing gameplay loop, the games previously mentioned are also very good at making their novel mechanics interconnected too, so to explore and elucidate the difference between these terms I'd like to introduce another example, consider the game cookie clicker, in cookie clicker, the main gameplay loop remains mostly static, as the new mechanics introduced are primarily focused on making this loop faster but do not change it in any significant way. So we can say that cookie clicker is a very interconnected game with little novelty. And an example with a high level of interconnectivity but lower novelt is in the Mario Maker level "very simple" by GameChumps member "Rubber"Ross, in this level, your earlier gameplay is later fused with a new concept to generate a new and interesting way to think about your previous actions, this is a good example of interconnectivity but shows only modest novelty(The way in which you interact with the world does not meaningfully change) Another highly impactful example of good interconnectivity is the game "Does Not Commute" which has you steering various cars through a city block, with the twist that the cars previously steered maintain the same paths that you set them upon, so you have to be really careful and think of how your present actions will affect the future challenges you may face while playing. I think every developer should strive for high novelty and high interconnectivity, but this is a very difficult balance to strike because oftentimes, novelty and interconnectivity are at odds with each other, and can tend to be inversely proportional almost all of the time. Consider this, if I'm playing a 2D platformer, having the game abruptly shift into a blood-pumping 3D movement shooter is certainly very novel, but the change is so jarring(low interconnectivity) that the player cannot really enjoy the game. On the other hand, consider a game where everything is highly interconnected and all mechanics feed into the main gameplay loop, to do this, we would want every single new mechanic that is introduced to hasten or otherwise lubricate the moment-to-moment gameplay, as this would be the highest level of interconnectivity one could achieve, but this would reduce novelty by leading to dreaded things like boring upgrades that increase your damage percentage(very interconnected but hardly novel) causing the way in which your mechanics interact with the player become into something cookie-clicker esque, which is not a desirable characteristic for a game that wishes to be continually engaging. Now it's finally time to talk about the Family Guy funnies: From what we can see in this video, the mechanics are very novel but also very interconnected, here's a breakdown of a few mechanics that stood out to me: -You can see that output increases when Peter is in proximity with a particular character, this is interconnected with the gameplay because it furthers the main goal of being able to raise Peter but it also adds the novel gameplay of steering Peter towards this character, changing the way in which players interact with the game normally(Peter to shopping complex and back to peter with burger) -Another example of this is the laptop, which allows you to buy what I presume, is upgrades that increase your total output, allowing you to better feed Peter(interconnectivity) and allowing you to place the items you purchase in the environment(Novelty) -Finally we can observe that the game introduces entirely new areas, leading to a different type of novelty that is visual,(a player can only spend so much time in Peter's house before getting bored after all) I think it's incredible that a game as humble as "Raising Peter" can teach us so much about the fundamental tenets of good game development. To conclude, here are a few games with high interconnectivity and novelty respectively to further solidify my definitions: Interconnectivity: Factorio, RU-vidr's life, Quantum League, Minecraft, Metal Gear Solid V Novelty: Hollow knight, Inscryption , Super Mario Odyssey, The Witness Note that although most of the games listed above have a combination of both Novel and Interconnected mechanics(like any good game should), I've place them under their respective categories because their gameplay mechanics are either mostly Novel or mostly Interconnected.
The Mario Kart DS soundtrack is goated. The one playing the whole video was the Online Lobby music, and the ending theme was the icon builder. Spent an hour in there screwing around to make the perfect avatar.
I'm not going to pretend this is some revolutionary game, but I can confidently say that this game refines the mechanics of the first Peter-Type games.
i find it hilarious how so many games have been made and game studios have put years of effort into making art, and many of these games are only briefly mentioned by dunkey in some videos. however, this little game in roblox has a whole video dedicated to it. hope the creator finds it some day. god bless
I feel like becoming extremely proficient as a well-structured team at something that is very complicated, so obscure as to be effectively invisible, and fundamentally offensive to the very core of the soul, is the quintessential dunk experience.
@@wyattmilliken3320 dunk friends are very good at game even though game has lots of hard and confusing stuff, game is hidden very good so most people haven't found it, and game has baby that eats poop. dunk and friends are very good at this kind of thing in a way other people usually aren't.
thanks for analyzing some high quality games dunko as an aspiring game dev, this helps me know what kinda game youll like so I can get you to help me with Bigmode, Ill be adding peter and joe in the next update for my games
This is undoubtedly Dunkeys masterpiece, the magnum opus of filmmaking. There were up's and downs and twists and turns and a overarching message of family and love. Not only have you raised a Peter Jason, You RAISED my soul into the stratosphere. Thank you
