This is my SPOILER FREE Raised by Wolves HBO Max Review, where I talk about my thoughts on the first 6 episodes. How did you feel about Raised by Wolves? Are you excited for the first three episodes on Sept. 3rd?
After Earth is rendered uninhabitable, Androids Mother (Amanda Collin) and Father (Abubakar Salim) start a new settlement and family with human embryos on the planet Kepler-22b. Twelve years later, only one child, Campion (Winta McGrath), remains, and the arrival of an Ark of surviving humans called the Mithraic presents a threat that Mother has no choice but to confront.

amazing work. Im not sure it was intentional, but i watched the show on a whim, and in the first episode the costumes and general aesthetic reminded me of classic star trek, and not in a vapid way. I thought the design choices were fantastic.

Prometheus and Alien Covenant are both really wonderful movies too ... its a different tone from Raised but its exceptional movies too ...they are just two different ways to ponder upon the same themes of technology vs religion vs humanity ... I personally still love Ridley Scott's Blade Runner the most by far, more than Raised By Wolves in fact, Blade Runner dwells on the themes in the most sensual way possible, its a movie I want to rewatch over and over again tirelessly without getting bored, I doubt I can do that with Raised By Wolves beyond the initial thrill of the first viewing ...

I sensed warmth, albeit superficially, from father. Mother was possessive. I think the androids were portrayed better than the actors than what you credit them for.

Honestly this show reminds me of Lost quite a bit. Story telling using flash backs/memories, two opposing camps trying to survive in an unknown land, good dose of romance that drives characters, an “unknown entity” that you feel is pulling all the strings, and destiny to name a few. The main difference that you will get though is that Lost was about the characters story, and how there back stories influence their motivations. This show has that to a lesser extent but fills that void with overarching exploration of grander themes. What is love? Who can love? A dive into religion. An exploration of family from all angles. Again this is just naming a few. Finally one last comparison that got me hooked. Just like lost this series gives you alot of questions that go unanswered for an episode or two at a time that kept me coming back for me.

This show grew on me I watched the first episode and didn't have much of a reaction Then I went back to it a few months later and binge watched four episodes and found myself wanting to follow the story to the end and as you eluded to it was true that at a slow burn every character seem to develop more layers and different motivations were revealed. Excellent show

I want this comment to be read very carefully. Ridley Scott’s exploration into the origins of man, and the nature of our existence, is brilliant and it is a phenomenon that is given beautiful form in this series. However, Scott should not have been let loose to explore those themes in his recent work on the Alien franchise. The Engineers backstory and genetic engineering of the Xenomorphs by androids completely polluted the concept of Scott’s and Cameron’s timeless masterpieces.

Only caught up on the first season about a month ago. Now that we are two eps into season two, I have no idea why this isn't a bigger deal. This idea is completely unique. There is enough intrigue to have fan theories galore. The characters are all separate, defined and memorable. There are multiple story lines that come together well. My hipster gene wants this to be all my own, but the pragmatic person that I am knows that others need to jump in!

Final episode of season 1 felt like it jumped the shark. I did enjoy the show up to episode 6. Hopefully they can salvage it in season 2, but I'm very sceptical.

Some interesting concepts, acting and cinematography is very good. Some glaring plot holes that I doubt will be substantively filled in, however. For one, 12 embryos is not nearly sufficient for the survival of the human species. Most models seem to suggest that a population of at least 300,000 is needed to ensure survival, any genetic bottleneck smaller than that number has humans not surviving after tens of generations...

great show. love the mythology and cultures on both sides of the religious debate in their setting. though i don't know how our earth would get to such a point in such a relatively short period of time, so far it seems well-written. i especially love the hints at more depth to the setting. i would say the human characters are falling a bit flat for me so far, aside from the main adults we see in ep 1-3.

Ya get use to it. Just like The Boys and then The Mandalorian. Just like the comment above me. Its better for the network. When all episodes drop at once we all talk about it for a week and then its on to the next thing. This keeps everyone talking. Keeps people tuning back in. Sure I'd love to binge it.....but I get it. It makes sense to not drop the whole series at once.

I like it but I do think it is taking a bit too long with the backstory of what happened on earth. I would have liked more scenes with the androids teaching the kids about earth from the atheist's perspective, then they could show what the religious people believe happened. I would really like to know why they only sent two androids and such limited supplies.

i was really off-put by androids acting.. i couldnt go past 1st 10 mins of the episode. cannot believe ridley scott directed that episode. now i am searching reviews to see if its worth my time to invest in this show. hbo has been in a downswing lately with how they are handling shows like westworld. i dont want to get too invested unless the show is worth it.

Did you end up watching any more of the show? I was ready to quit by ep 3, but decided to give it another chance and am not regretting it so far [am at ep 7, am watching with someone else so can't binge like I normally would]

@@tyrroo no i didnt watch it after that. i did hear it gets better but lately hbo shows have been a bad investment of my time even when season 1 starts great like westworld they tend to muck it up. so i am gonna give it a pass for now. maybe if they conclude the series well and have a full story planned i will watch it. westworld started as one my fav shows in season 1 and quickly became a mess and writers have no clue what they are doing now. hope its not the case in this show.

@@MrVad3r Yeah, I mostly refuse to watch any current shows anymore, I'd rather wait until they've had a proper conclusion so I know if it's worth my time. Westworld was so amazing! It's a real shame they ended it after the first season, but I think that's probably for the best, ya know? Like, if they'd continued it, there probably would've been stupid shit like a stuffed toy tiger in a muddy river, or the Man in Black murdering his adult daughter, or other such garbage, ya know? So it's best there was only the one season.

Most streaming services give out early screeners to critics. It's just like early press screenings for theatrical movies, gives critics a chance to have their reviews ready for the public release

They will be releasing the next few episodes together at once What us avid fans of Ridley Scott want to know in more detail that what has been provided to us in this video review: 1. We all need a personal review of the first three episodes by someone who has seen them. 2. I don't get how people are raving about this show. Mother is an overpower, crazy character with little to no weakness. She has super strenght, she can fly, shapeshift, voice mimicry, sonic cry that can obliterate anything, breath freeze, computer hacking, bullet proof, and any power the writers believe she needs to overcome any situation with little effort. Probably we are only scratching the depth of her abilities, whoever built her should have use her to win the war, wait she probably build herself.
