The first song off of "The Flat End of the Earth" EP by the life and times called, "Raisin in the Sun," perplexed me harmonically. It is a song from the debut of Allen Epley's post-Shiner band in a form returning to form as a powertrio. This is the only official output where the first incarnation of the band that features members of Someday I and the String and Return.
I have been a fan of the life and times since hearing the "Flat End..." but followed Shiner & Co since 1995 after discovering a used CD of Lula Divinia in a mom and pop record store in 1000 Oaks.
The first part of the video is a playthrough followed by a tutorial of what is being played. The most uncertain part of playing this song was the chorus which I'm not sure on.
