John and Betty Baker have raised championship cattle for decades. A chance meeting in 1988 led them to own arguably the most popular steer in Texas: the University of Texas Longhorns mascot.

136yomyheat oh yeah. I live in Austin and he is a star. The Bevos have and will be the coolest mascot in college. This is coming from a Sooner. Funny that people think they are being mistreated when they are treated like royalty

The best damn mascot in all of sports. I’ve been around these animals and UGA’s mascot learned the hard way this is an animal that you don’t mess with. They are extremely quick for there size.

Had the pleasure of meeting Bevo IVX at graduation in 2015, his last graduation. Bevo posed for photos with graduates, and he stood so politely with our daughter (the graduate) and all of us too. He was very sweet and we were thrilled to be able to share our special day with your special steer.

"The better known story is that Bevo earned his moniker a few months later, after a group of Texas AandM students branded him with “13-0,” the Aggies’ winning score from the 1915 football match-up. As legend has it, Longhorns responded by altering the “13” to a “B,” the dash to an “E,” and then added a “V” in front of the “0.”"

Bevo got his name after Oklahoma beat Texas many years ago in 1938 and secretly branded the score 13-0 on him. Texas turned 13-0 into the word BEVO. This is what supposedly happened but who knows.
