Processing meat for the family is a good thing. Teaching the kids from the beginning to respect the animals is a very important thing. So many people just look at the animal as an animal. They are living things too. Thank you for being such great teachers. Love watching your videos. 💜
I agree. I also thank God and the animals for their sacrifice. One person calls what we do “slaughter.” But when they get their meat it is “butchered.”😂
I used one of your other videos to learn how to properly butcher a chicken. I found it much easier to cut into the jugular vein if I first pulled out a few neck feathers where I was going to make the cut. Instead of cutting through the feathers, just one quick slice and the cut is finished. I have a fairly large hand, which makes it difficult to scoop out the guts.
You people are my inspiration! I really appreciate you taking the time to document culling day for us to watch. Better than 95% of the meat that finds its way to my dinner table I raised here on my humble homested. but 100 chickens in one day, amazing.
Thank you! We are finishing up a full master class that will be much more focused :) totally understand the background noise... It is such a good time to see them all so eager to dive it :) 😁
We did our first session on the weekend. I completely understand about not wanting to eat chicken now. Definitely a skill to learn. Beautiful video. New sub.

I love seeing how your family truly appreciates the animals and how your children respect the animals. I absolutely hate any type of hunting for sport in which the animals are killed for no reason other than pictures. I want to one day be able to do this.
It's been very interesting to me how the more we've done this we've had a shift in perspective. The first time was really hard and the smell got to us and I wondered if we would even be able to eat them. Now, while it's still hard, my mindset is different. I think it's maturity in the whole homesteading life that comes together to help make it happen.
You all are amazing, that is one thing I can not do, I can help process wild game venison, bear etc. but for some reason I can not process chicken.. thanks for doing what you do.
You and your family look like you’re living your best life. I love that and I bet those chickens are delicious. Nutritious food as it was supposed to be, raised naturally and on the land with love. Ya know how ppl will say about, “how delicious that meal was”, right away someone (usually the cook😉) will say, “it was cause they cooked it with love”. I’m a firm believer in that the very best meals come from animals and fresh fruit and veg that the finished meal came from, knew nothing but love & kindness. That’s why it’s so tasty and good for you. Animals that are stressed out taste bad to me. I stopped buying conventionally raised food a long, long time ago. I am pretty old so I remember a time when all the meat around, grocery store or the local butcher, was also raised and processed local on small family farms. Not anymore, you don’t know where it’s coming from or how it’s treated. That said I’ve seen enough of factory farming to KNOW, it’s not safe, it’s not healthy for us or our planet and it most certainly isn’t good for these animals we snag off the grocery store shelves. So remember, anyone with enough time to waste on reprimanding you for your way of life isn’t worth a second thought. I’d even go so far as to say, those are the same ppl who have no problems whatsoever buying factory farmed meats. I really enjoyed this chicken playlist, now I gotta look at what other fun stuff you guys get up to. Thanks so much for sharing your life. I get to live vicariously through you 😂❤ Stay safe and blessings to you & yours🙂🐓🦃🐇 Ohh afterthought… Did you ever consider raising meat rabbits? I knew a old woman who raised them. They were so delicious. More work than chickens, however I love rabbit meat so for me it would be worth it, if I could do the work involved in raising them. They’re also a bit more costly investment wise for the return. But in my dreams if I was able I’d want at least 8-10 a year. And I’m just a family of 1.
Thank you for your very kind words! Your encouragement and support is so greatly appreciated. We have raised rabbits for meat in the past and we currently keep a small group of them.
We did a few when I was a kid the lady did it put the birds neck under a board and pulled. Then let it fly, it would for a few moments then we had to pluck them. Im glad it was just 10 of them

Yes we feed our dogs the raw unprocessed feet and heads without a problem. We've noticed that it's the cook bones that you definitely want to avoid because of the splintering.
We are retired and have had chickens for eggs for several years and then decided to hatch baby chicks for meat birds. The first time processing the birds was the hardest. We’re raising more birds again for meat.
I grew up butchering chickens. We didn't do cones. My grandpa chopped the heads off & tossed them. I've been chased by hundreds of headless chickens. But kids need to know where there food comes from... period!
My mom butchered chickens that same way. It seems cruel to cut their throats and wait for them to bleed out. This was a great video though and getting the kids involved is so important.
You mentioned that you keep the feet and heads for the dogs…. Do you give them to them raw? This may seem like an silly question but I really want to incorporate more real meat into my dogs diet but scared to start. 😅
