This land rich in history embodies all the magic of India. Located in the north of the country, Rajasthan is bordered by arid plains and mountains. It’s the ancestral land of the Maharajahs, the last Rajput horsemen and desert tribes.
Situated near the Pakistani border, the Thar Desert is the realm of scorching winds and storms that can obliterate everything. Pabu was born in the Thar Desert. He never left these steppes of his childhood. Pabu belongs to the tribe of the Bhils, the hunters. He has worked tirelessly at bettering the lives of the women and men of his community: The Untouchables of the Thar Desert.
Geraldine, an adventurer from France, has fallen in love with the landscapes of India’s Rajasthan. Riding through the region on her motorbike, she searches for routes to take tourists on tours.
Ajeet is a horseman, a descendant of Rajasthan’s warriors, the Rajputs, literally “Sons of Kings.” At 32 years old, he’s continuing on the path of his family for 8 generations. Ajeet is an ardent defender of the Marwaris, the horses of Rajasthan that nearly became extinct.
This documentary was produced by Patly Prod and directed by Laurent Cadoret. It was first released in 2015.

Being a Rajput from deep thar desert i can say. There were no discrimination in desert.. people of desert including a ordinary rajput has to live with limited resources and They all have to live respecting each other to survive in deadly desert. This "untouchables" word is a example that how Britishers divided and ruled India for a long period

Wonderful program... I can see why so many people fall in love with India. I'm not quite sure why there was the need to have what sounded to me like a French speaking American English over the locals who did speak English ... sure subtitles would have been perfect for the odd moment where the language barrier did persist... I loved the story of why the horses have inward curled ears - very sweet. And to Geraldine I wish all the very best in her adventures out there, what a sweet young lady.

Bhils are probably one of the most prominent tribe in Rajasthan after Rajput and jatts ,and these people are calling them untouchable (dalits) , they don't know Rana Punja bhil, or maharaja Kotiya.. Dalit and tribes are different, dalits are almost same but lowest caste while bhils are pre-vedic tribes which has less connection to Aryans, but still has respectful place in ramayana and mahabharat, and indian history as well. While dalits are completely isolated.

BHILS are not considered untouchable or low caste in Gujarat , Rajasthan or MP or Maharashtra . In fact , BHILS are considered as a brave , warrior or martial caste just like RAJPUT and MARATHA and JATS . BHILS were feared as robbers in olden days and were very fierce .

@@_Bappu_ Most of the Indians of all castes are Indegenous . Only in certain areas like Punjab , Haryana , Himachal and Kashmir the people are somewhat genetically mixed with Afghans , Tajiks or Iranians in ancient times because of its geographical location . Those areas are more close to Afghanistan and Central Asia so Somewhat Genetic mixing took place . In other parts of India , Genetic mixing did not take place that much .

I don't think Bhils or other such castes are considered untouchables. It is only a figment of imagination among some people. Everyone who actually knows Rajasthan knows that these tribes were treated with greatest respect by the kings and rulers. Even Sisodiyas of Udaipur and Rathods of Jodhpur had tribal leaders in their courts as commanders and advisors. Maharana Pratap lived among Bhils in mountains and took their help, and this legacy has put tribals of Rajasthan in a very respectable position. People who claim of untouchability of casteism mostly say that based on one or two reports from news instead of seeing the entire community and the societal dynamics throughout history.
