HEY THAT'S MY MALT MENTION!!!!!!!!!! How did I miss this episode?!?!? I'm so excited right now!! Perfect timing actually. I'm going to load up the fire pit tonight in the cold fall air and have a dram to this. This made my Friday morning!
A Ralfy review is always good for relaxing before taking an exam - cheers Ralfy! I'll be raising a glass tonight to celebrate reaching the half-way point of my *final* finals
Hi Ralfy, I'm lucky to have two bottles of Rosebank. One is an 11y, bottled at 43% with a sherry finish, and the other one is 14y, bottled at 46% fully bourbon matured. I want to open one of them, but I wonder which one could be the most 'representative' for the Rosebank character, since I've never tried one and I hope to experience 'typical Rosebank'. Which one would you suggest? Thanks!
I would love to buy a bottle of this but it's just too expensive. I completely agree with you Ralfy with regards to Lowland whisky. I've had some very fine ones. I have an absolutely stunning G&M Bladnoch 23 year on the go. That was less than £100 and worth every penny. Looking forward to Rosebank reopening. Cheers. WT
They've now started work on the distillery, steelwork is now up, coming along at a wee bit of speed, i bought 2 bottles of rosebank for my father a while back, not really to collect but more that the distillery is local to where he lives. bought when it was only £26 a bottle, now seemingly it's worth a lot more going by what my father has said.
Given that Rosebank was mothballed in 1993 and then closed in 2002, and that this expression is age stated as a 12 year old. And also that this F&F is relatively ubiquitous and obtainable, was it all bottled many years ago at 12 years old, or has it been laying in casks for a couple of decades and bottled as a 12 year old but really much older, in batches as needed?
Hey Ralfy, my local ABC has quite a few bottles of Rosebank 1990 21 year old cask strength from way back in 2011-2012 O guess....gonna pick up a few even though they are not cheap. Worth it?
$600 (£300) when it was available over here in Australia. I should look the price up before watching the review so I don't get too invested in wanting to buy one.
Keith Munson worked there and sold it in the mid 2000s. Price went up as supply dwindled. For a good while it cost peanuts and we drank it with reckless abandon.
Rosebank is reasonably easy to find in the UK but it comes at a price. As of August 2018 you will pay from 350 pounds to 1000. Out of my league. This keyboard is American and can't do the pound symbol.
Sadly, it's already too expensive in the secondary market, at around 250 euros now... It's now very difficult to buy "closed distilleries" whiskies at a decent price. One of the last "cheap" one is Imperial distillery, but the prices are increasing fast...
Hi Ralfy i was wondering i keep getting a orange taste on the background on whisky even when the taste notes dont say it. Is there something wrong with my taste buds. How do i improve, what's wrong with me.
Ralfy: I like Lowland whisky Auchentoshan, I certainly do not think it is "lighter" than a lot of Speysides's. I would love to taste a Rosebank but that is like chasing unicorns across the pond.
I have a couple of bottles of Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Rosebank 14 Year Old. Unfortunately bottled at 40%. They sat on the shelves of the small town liquor store for years and years until I bought them. Are they a good version? Who knows? I just wanted them for the collection and one day will open and see.
I have been lucky enough to sample some of the worlds most expensive motorcycles, but whats the best, just at the moment I love a couple of bikes that cost me peanuts.
Tricky to get hold of without paying three to four hundred pounds but I'll look out for it, you never know. Love Rich Tea biccies and always have them in :) Slàinte.
When Ralfy speaks about whisky, I am find it a little difficult to relate. I really wish he would take the time to write the book of Ralfy definition. Please.... now look what you did.. I’m begging.. not becoming of a malty manly mate.
