If only Flora and Fauna expressions were available in Canada... I had a Carn Mor bottling of Dailuaine 15 made from two ex-bourbon barrels... It was the most fantastic whisky that I had ever tried up to that time, almost six years ago now.
The 3 bottles from F&F I'm trying to find and seem to be sold out everywhere in Australia currently :) Tried the Benrinnes 15 in a whisky bar recently and really enjoyed it. May have been my favourite out of a 4 dram flight complete with Hazelburn 10, and the new Arran 18yo. The other I'm keen to buy a bottle of is the Teaninich after winning a sample off Roy last year and rather enjoying it. (I should add I also got a sample of the Rosebank 12 F&F off Roy which was rather special, but naturally a bit harder or more expensive to find ;) ). Cheers!
Nice review Alan. I’ve only got 1 bottle of Flora & Fauna myself. It’s just not an independent bottler that you see anything from around here. The Teaninich I have my Dad brought back from Holland for me.
have you opened that one Rob?..its also a really nice whisky...Diageo has done a fabulous job with these....they would be spectacular at 46% and no colour and non chill filtered...oh if only...cheers fella..FIRST
the whisky friend I’m afraid I haven’t opened it yet. It’s the only Teaninich I have and I haven’t seen any others. I pretty much have a bottle from every working distillery as of 5 years ago and if I open it I won’t have a Teaninich anymore. I know, I know, weird, but I just can’t bring myself to open it until I can replace it.
Unfortunately Diageo doesn`t offer the Flora&Fauna bottlings with a higher ABV. My favorite is the Blair Athol but last summer in Ullapool the Auchroisk did a decent job sitting at the bay by 25'Celsius.
These would be even better with better presentation... 46% no colour and no chill... We can only dream... Cheers we will just have to enjoy them as they are...
They did. 9 of the Flora and Fauna were released as cask strength. IIRC they were Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Blair Athol, Caol Ila, Clynelish, Dailuaine, Linkwood, Mortlach, Rosebank
I’m new to scotch and trying to figure out which area I like best. I’ve had monkey shoulder, Glenfiddach 12, Macallan 12 sherry cask, and Glenlivet 12. If I had to rank them Macallan was my favorite hands down. Loved the sherry taste. Glenfiddach was almost as good. Monkey shoulder and Glenlivet. Also had Johnny Walker black label but all I could taste was smoke. Not a fan. Once my taste has developed I will try a Smokey one again.
Well good for you my friend sounds like your a sherry fan... Glenfiddich and monkey shoulder are the same ms has Glenfiddich in it... Bottles to try would be Aberlour 10..glenfarclas 12 Glendronach 12...my first choice would be Aberlour 10 at around £25.the best one is Glendronach 12 £35...where are you from my friend?
the whisky friend I’m from Michigan, love your channel! I really appreciate the recommendations and I can’t wait to try them. Love how honest and upfront you are.
Sorry Cliff I have had the music a bit loud recently because of the high winds here the background noise was bad... Do you not like my music Cliff?.. Cheers fella
@@thewhiskyfriend Hi Alan. It is just a personal thing with me. I prefer whisky reviews with no background music. I could hear the wind noise in the background, so the music just added to the noise. Your reviews are really so great that I feel that music doesn't enhance them.
