Well, I have a 1999 Defender 110 TD5 3 door, that I just throw around the country roads like it's a car. It's fitted with 33" BFG Mud-Terrain T/As and has no engine or suspension tuning done to it. I always find it so amazing the way it handles, although it's bigger and crudely designed than everything else on the road.

The Defender is not 70 years old FFS!!!! It shares no more with a Series 1 80" than a a MK7 Golf shares with Mk1.

+Devils Hound89 Not even close. Well apart from having a bulkhead, but then so do almost all cars... But a Series 1 bulkhead, is completely different to a Defenders.

If you'd ever worked on a Land Rover, or seen one in bits, you'd know instantly that a Series 1 is NOT a Defender and that they are completely different vehicles, with no major directly interchangeable parts. A Defenders bulkhead is 4" wider than an S1's!

+Jeebz Badalandabad After WW2 the Americans left all their Jeeps in England, since the English didn't have anything remotely as utilitarian as the Jeep, those thousands of Jeeps did everything on up to Tractor field plowing. But by about 1947 those Jeeps were wearing out, someone decided to build their own....

Ricardo Ellison Believe me mate, the only U.S. vehicles left in England before D.Day were already worn out, broken down and bloody useless. Had they been of any value they would have been included in the invasion and dumped on the French instead. U.S. vehicles left here post WWII were no damned use for "plowing" (whatever that is) and were usually scrapped. Most of our profitable scrap merchants began trading in just such a way in the post war period.

+300bhpton I have nothing against Jeeps. They are capable vehicles but certainly in the South East most Jeeps are totally road biased poser vehicles... But seeing as your point was so well argued I will apologise to all Jeep owners...
