For this one we tagged along with the British Armed Forces in their preparation for the RSAC Scottish Rally.
No Subaru's or Evo's for these guys. Instead they rally Land Rover Wolf's, a military version of the iconic Land Rover Defender.

During my time in HM Forces, I was a corporal in the Corps of Royal Military Police and that's where I started my rallying. We had to use SWB Rovers and the only mods we did was install a removable roll cage, aircraft harnesses and extra lights. The Army paid our entry fees and off we went. We tried the Hunsruck Rally one time but failed to finish as the mechanic misdiagnosed a loose sump plug as a cracked sump! We retired! We used the Rovers to enter the Liege International Police Rally for about 3 years and used part of the Spa-Francorchamps F1 race circuit as a special stage! We did some forest stages in mid Wales on a BAMA event, our first on shale and surprisingly finished 2nd overall on that particular stage! Who knew that 74 hp could be so much fun! By the way, we drove to and back from ALL the events we entered!

To answer Andrew Boltons question: "I know landy's are uncomfortable at the best of times, but how lacking is the comfort in a rally? Also what's your favourit's experience from the race?" It can get uncomfortable after a while especially on the forest stages, however with the Nitrogen shock absorbers it helps to reduce some of the impact felt over rough surfaces. We do get service halts and sometimes there may be a queue at the start of a stage so you get some time for a quick shake off before going again. My favorite experience has to be co-driving on the Ypres Rally 2017 with Steve Partridge. Never did I expect to be rallying in a land rover through villages and country lanes! The atmosphere was fantastic and we were well received by everyone in Belgium. Even when the throttle cable snapped and we had to run a stage using hand throttle only, we had so much fun. I'd happily go back there again with the team.

That's a bit of a relief with regards to the the shock absorbers. Belgium must've been absolutely fantastic to see like that, glad you had a good time. Thanks so much for the reply and good luck for future races!
