Rally Raid BMW G310GS - UK Trans Euro Trail section... 

I had a 2018 310GS. I'm 6'2" and 220lbs - and absolutely loved it - stalled a lot on take-off for sure. Put some protection on it, wider foot pegs, bar risers, bigger windshield, and some 50/50 tires - and put 16,000 miles on it in one year - ran it through the backcountry in Colorado (COBDR), Missouri woods and Tennessee mud, and long miles on the Interstate - and would still be riding it if I hadn't bent the frame. Steve will have a blast on this bike - despite it not having a lot of positive reviews.

My son brought the new (in South Africa anyway) GS310 GS Rally, demo home. It has a rather rev-happy, "ride by wire" and some idle adjusting/anti stall set-up. I love the new dark blue colour scheme.

The 2022s have been fixed of the 3 major issues the previous years were having, but still a great bike and even better video, new sub and like here. Can't wait to ride over there !

I test drove the baby GS and could not agree more. Stalling was a specific feature of the bike, comparing to my CRF300L where I can take off in 3rd gear the GS is terrible....

What brand of crash bars does the GS have

That Rally Raid baby GS looks a lot cobbier than my stock G310GS. Very nice, but I'd like a high front fender for mud. The stalling has been fixed by ride-by-wire on the 2021 G310GS. Not sure what it'd take to retrofit it to the earlier models, but I've grown accustomed to giving it a little extra throttle. At 6' 2", I'm a bit big for the G310GS. A plank seat would allow me to scoot back a couple of inches, but the stock seat has exactly one seating position. I may see about getting a taller aftermarket seat, maybe the Seat Concepts, and slip a seat heater in there. What I really wish I had was some way to put a larger fuel tank on the G310GS. 11 liters is 2.9 gallons. I'd like twice that, mostly because I hate stopping for gas so often. Quibbles aside, I'm loving the baby GS so far. I've always ridden small displacement dual sport thumpers and the BMW is more comfortable and more refined.

I really want a spin on one of these bikes. Look like great fun.

Where are the crash bars from guys ?!

I was lucky enough not only to try a Rally Raid 310GS L2 but also ride around the Cotswolds with John Mitchinson who had brought it along to ask him about it. At the time it felt a little underpowered after stepping off my 1200GS but at the time I thought it was a great and capable ( I would like to say little )bike but it definitely had that full bike feel . It’ll be interesting to see how Steve gets on. Always enjoy watching your vids and look forward to your journey across the North will it be a multi day trip with luggage?

Good job Steve. Not seen the 310 in the flesh but it looks a like a decent size bike. How much percentage wise of the TET have you got left to do?

One question. Is the front tire a huge difference between 310gs and crf300? I'm thinking about changing my G310GS to something new, mostly due to 19 front tyre. I have a lot of trouble in sand or slick terrain and I wonder if it is my fault or the tyre :). Regarding stalling I'd add two important points. #1. You can get used to it. I'm not stalling anymore. #2. Last year version got a massive update here and is much easier.

Is this a good beginner bike for people with no proper driving experience?
