So, I have to start this off by saying that I was really lucky to have been able to witness Ralph perform live twice before this, when she opened for Carly Rae Jepsen, so I already was aware of what a great talent she was and really enjoyed her music, her personality and her energy, so getting to see her perform her own headline show was a great pleasure and something I certainly couldn't miss. I was also rewarded after the performance by getting to speak to her for a few moments, which I honestly wasn't expecting, and was a pure honor and privilege. She was very sweet and kind and made time for all of her fans that attended the concert, speaking with them and taking pictures with them if they wished. I know how much extra time and energy those types of things can take, so the fact that she was willing to do that of her own accord was inspiring and wonderful. Hopefully she can keep it up for as long as possible as she gets more and more famous. I wish her all the luck and happiness in the world for her present and future and hope she gets everything that she both wants and deserves!
Unfortunately, the venue wasn't ideal for her, as it was an extremely small space with not much of a stage at all for her to move around on and because of the setup of the loud speakers being right there, at times it appeared she was struggling to be heard properly. Because I saw her at the Royal Theatre before, which could have one of the best acoustics of any local venue, I was clearly aware of the problems and know just how incredible she can sound live. However, despite any of that, she still gave her energy and created an incredible atmosphere for everyone who attended, making us all feel overjoyed at the experience.
This song was pretty special, not only because it is a great song and one that differs from her more dance-related style, but also because it is only the second time ever that she was performing it live, with a simple acoustic version, which gave everyone a chance to see just how good and dynamic her voice really is. Personally, these are probably the moments in concerts that touch me the most, because artists quite often go to untapped depths to bear their souls raw. When you get to witness these sides to people, especially live, it can make a chill run down your spine and be extremely grateful to have been a part of it.
The video itself unfortunately has a slight bulb ghosting effect from the bright sign she uses. I tried to angle it so that it wasn't as distracting and annoying when I noticed it, however, it was extremely persistent and I was more interested in capturing the performance than anything else. It is probably the only negative to having a bright sign, (or any bright lights,) on stage.
