Of course its going to be for the modern day audience because 2010 Karate Kid except for Jackie Chan was terrible and thats why Cobra Kai became the hit it is. IDK, it doesn't look promising, especially with how they are going about selecting a person that has no previous acting experience. It's not going to be good and I'm surprised Ralph Macchio agreed to this especially since he said the 2010 Karate Kid has nothing to do with the Original Karate Kid. Just when you thought they were on track to go above and beyond and with Cobra Kai as a launching pad this happens. SMH big time

So excited for this. Love Jackie Chan, however I'm curious though, how many had a hard time grasping the concept of Jackie Chan teaching a "Karate" Kid? just such an odd concept, as is the criteria for the new Karate Kid star being Chinese or Mixed race Chinese. . . for Karate. . hmm.. No matter. I've enjoyed the Karate Kid movies, even if not a huge fan of the non-Ralph Macchio movies.. and really blown away by Cobra Kai. So good to see Johnny as a main character and even better as a good guy.

sounds good so far. main character must not be a woman nor a black person. The Karate Kid is not the same without Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) , R.I.P. but if done right. it will be ok.

Yes i have a feeling it will be terrible coz the 2010 one was horrible and Cobra Kai saved the franchise. I'm shock Ralph Macchio agreed to this especially with his involvement in Cobra Kai. They should do an origin story about Mr Miyagi if anything coz thats the real Karate Kid

i did not like it the one with jackie....i honestly don't include that as being part of the the karate kid franchise....it was more kung fu kid...but if they can some how rewrite or change history to make it work then i'm in...but that one wa slame and boring as heck

Oh this is gonna be bad I mean a bad movie. I rather they followed up with Cobra Kai movie instead because the 2010 Karate Kid even Ralph Macchio said it himself has nothing to do with the original Karate Kid and it didn't have the same effect as the original karate kid and they already remedied that with Cobra Kai so this new Karate Kid movie I guarantee you will be panned especially with the way they are going about it with the casting of no acting experience

Cobra Kai is overhyped remove the fights from it and becomes just another teen drama with unrealistic drama sometimes. Also some main actors from Cobra Kai want to be done with the show already

Exactly!!! especially since the 2010 Karate Kid was awful except for Jackie Chan. Yup Cobra Kai is enough and they should continue from there or if anything make an origin story of Mr. Miyagi. Shocking to see Ralph Macchio agreeing to this because I didn't know he was desperate

confused why they are limiting to just Chinese. They said mixed also but how about all other asians. As long as they look the part and know martial arts theres all the other types of asians that can do it. Chinese-American myself
