UPDATE on that weird 1/2”: the two things people said were garage floor not level and fuel tank. First I backed truck in, instead of head first and the same rear passenger is 1/2” high. So not the floor. Second I filled up the tank and there was no change. 3/8-1/2 tank vs full. I thought about that a bit and in reality, 32 gallons at 5lbs a gallon isn’t much weight. So I’m lost. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️.

Air pressure maybe a little much in it

Mines opposite mine has a bout a 3/4 of an inch drop on the passengerside rear instead of the driver side mind you that’s with a transfer tank that holds 95 gallons that only use about 75 of its capacity and a tool box weighing around 210 with everything in it in total at all times I’ve got 735 pounds in the bed idk it’s weird and kind of annoying

That's why from the factory they sit nose down until you put leveling Springs in it.. nose down, put a ton of weight in the back and then it sits level.. like you ,I'm going to use leveling Springs waiting for them to come in😊

That’s why they build a rake into the truck, so when there is a load in it the truck I’d level. It’s made to have weight in the back

Nick, as weird as this sounds, I had this exact problem with a 15 I had. Half inch difference in the rear. Turns out one of the cater bolts was turned all the way one direction. With these radius arm trucks, when adjusting caster it torques down the rear somehow. Tharen has a great article on their site explaining it much better than I can. Mine became unleveled in the rear after leveling kit and alignment. If I can find the article I will send it to you.

I'm thinking real hard about a single rear wheel 1 ton with the hemi. Still keep the leaf springs going one ton i think. I dunno i have a 2019 f250, but i also have a weakness for buying new trucks

I do that routine 4 times per heating season getting one ton at a time from TSC layaway plan where I have to pickup all ordered pallets by Oct 1st or was it 30th? forgot already....yes it goes fast. But I load the pellets into the truck one bag at a time and then unload....because of risk to tailgate from fork truck.....I really should take the tailgate off and then go pickup the pellets.... Have not done that yet with my new Ram 2500 (now with 1,379 miles on it) . I practiced taking the tailgate off which includes a procedure to undo camera connection and a wire harness for solenoid tailgate lock and then installing a blanking plate on vehicle side and clipping into same place mounting area. I hope your tailgate was not damage too bad that requires new paint. after body work. or maybe we are taking about the plastic tailgate cap that stuff grabs when sliding to rear with gate down. Not a good design.

It's a 3/4 ton. So that means you can put 3/4 of a ton in the bed. One ton is for one ton. Back in the day before all these ratings were designed and printed that's what that means. It's simple if you think about it that way.
@NickMango
@NickMango Год назад
Yep that simple 😂
@4.0gpa44
@4.0gpa44 Год назад
No, that's an outdated designation. You can put a lot more weight in any modern brand of 2500 than a 3/4 ton of weight. That's why few people except old timers call a 2500 a 3/4 ton.

The Specs on a 2021 Bighorn crew cab short bed is as follows: Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) (lbs.) 10,000 Payload (lbs.) 3,230 Towing capacity (lbs.) 14,260 Gross combined weight rating (GCWR) (lbs.) 21,500 5th-wheel towing capacity (lbs.) 14,080 Not very impressive numbers IMO. I also own a 2021 2500 Laramie and my numbers are even less. Not sure how much weight you plan to put on it?

Fuel tank maybe the reason lower on the driver's side? Tuff truck springs...used on my 1/2 ton. much stronger
@NickMango

Tested this today and no difference with full tank vs half tank. Not much weight tbh. 5lbs per gallon, 32 gallons.

If the surface your truck is parked on is not level you will see a difference from side to side

Payload on a 1500-2500 is pretty close to the same. Yes the tank makes a difference in the height, but from what I was told when I brought a Ram back to the dealer to ask a similar question, they said the driver side is 1/4” higher to level the truck when having a driver and full tank.
@Hondatitan69

Airbags would fix that

I’m leaning toward it. Cheap fix too. Ride quality could suffer with them though.

If I’m correct the payload of your truck is GVWR- curb weight = payload. On my 2021 Powerboost doing the math i get about 2100 payload rating but if i look at the yellow sticker inside the door it says my payload is only like 1300lbs. Anyone have a answer for this?

Are you looking to upgrade your headlights to LED’s? I’m on the fence about replacing with OEM’s from the Laramie trim or with going with an after market supplier such as Morimoto.
@NickMango

So I’ve thought about this but those headlight swaps are $$$$$$$. They look awesome but yeah major dough.

I'm assuming tire pressure is the same. Not sure if that would make a difference or not?

It would def make a difference if it was like 10-15 lbs off. I think I’m within 1 or 2 lbs though.

Would the floor not being level be the cause? Not that I would worry about 1/2 inch

@@NickMango Well, a few things.. you’re heading down a rabbit hole , lol , but I get it, I am the same way. I tore windows out and replaced them over a 1/2 inch. Maybe it’s your measuring point. Maybe the flange or body is off a1/2 inch. Is there a better measuring point on the truck without using the floor? Or what if you ran a board or bar underneath the truck, but up off the floor and is was dead level and checked it from there?
@NickMango
@NickMango 2 года назад
I gotta think on it. I’m not going to get crazy about it though. Just interesting. I need to measure everything to the floor. That’ll find it.

I wonder if the fuel tank makes a difference in the hight difference ???
@NickMango
@NickMango 2 года назад
That’s a damn good question. The front was 43 though. I have to fill up the tank tomorrow I’m going to check that and see what happens. But you’re right, it’s on the drivers side. Keep you posted. 👍
@NickMango
@NickMango 2 года назад
Ok tank isn’t the issue. Same 1/2” off with half tank vs full. Only 150 lbs of fuel too. Didn’t think of that but 32 gallons at 5lbs isn’t much. Thanks though 👍
