In this video I delete the breather tube and install a breather filter instead. Ram 1500,5.7 hemi, challenger, charger, jeep,Chrysler. check out the frostbite ram store for cool tee shirts and merch teespring.com/stores/frostbit...
I live in the great liberal state of NY where we have emission inspections, so I left the tube attached to my factory airbox, plugged it off at the oil filler location and let it sit in there under the engine cover to appear functional from the outside👍 I then put the Spectre filter on the 45 degree tube, and hose clamped it. All the part numbers listed worked, I have a ‘18 Ram with the 5.7
Too much crankcase pressure will blow that right off. And this way might also cause airflow sensor issues. On my truck I ran a UPR catch can setup in place of this along with a UPR Crankcase one way valve breather to replace my engine oil cap.
I got the Circle D 3K 11" HP series stall and I'm not happy with it. When I drop it in gear there's already drag on it like a stock one, if I let off the brakes it starts surging forward like a 3K stall should not. When I decelerate it surges, and I can't stall it out over 2500 rpm without breaking the tires loose while holding the brakes hard. I went with it because I was told the 258mm one had worse surging/driveabliliy issues. So if you do go with them I'd get an higher stall than you think you need to hopefully get closer to the stall rpm you're really after. TunedRams just got his Edge racing 3k converter so maybe see what he thinks after his install and compare to my Circle D results if you haven't already decided.
just did this but couldnt find the bypass BUT since the "nipple" to the airbox is above my filter I dont have a problem - just looks like something is missing (aesthetics).
Bros I love your truck and I swear I just did this mod like a week ago and here you are making a vid of it haven’t seen a vid of the pcv delete for ram
Im not sure if you can delete the pvc system without setting off the engine light, but an oil catch can will keep the system working and separate the oil vapor out of it👍
Would it be possible to Tee a breather tube off of this into a catch can? I'm using this same delete at the moment but heard it may cause issues down the road.
Hey thanks for making that video I was racking my brain on what to do about all that blow by oil messing up my air cleaner Did you also get rid of that top of the air box??
I actually just installed a catch can 2 weeks ago on my ram, and noticed that big @$$ pipe. Thanks for the tip I'll be performing an ugly do-dad delete soon also 😂😎
I would think the breather tube more effective as it's connected straight to the air intake. Does this affect performance in any way positive or negative?
I know this is an old video, I hope it held up. I just did this to my 14 Ram 1500 because the barbed plastic fitting on my k&n broke. I kept the ugly tube until I'm sure it's not going to cover the engine in oil.
Can this be done on a non turbo car? Cause i have a 2012 Ford Figo 1.4 with a K&N cold air intake fitted in already, will be doing a full exhaust and tune soon but just want to make sure if this is possible?
Does oil end up inside that little filter? I believe it goes to the air intake to create a vacuum to siphon out the pressure build up in the crank case. When you cap it with a filter, how is a vacuum being created?
The factory setup sucks the hot, oily, humid crankcase air back into the intake. They do this to meet EPA regulations. Old cars used breathers, like the one in this video, to vent that nasty air out into the atmosphere.
@@OddTimeMan Hey oddtimeman, - I put another air cleaner on a 72 pinto 2.0 and was wondering how to hook valve cover breather to the air cleaner, OR do I need to. for the past 3 yrs, I just have some marine carpet with a clamp where you'd hook the hose on the original oil breather?, Is that ok?
Did this on my 15 cummins. Had oil all over the place in a week. Not sure if the hemi is different or what, but that filter wound have to be cleaned fairly often. What happens when you do that and it plugs up? Crankcase issue? Food for though.
I would not do that looks better but it's not good for a daylight driver. Messed up my pvc valve and map. Started idling rough also. After about 6 months of driving. Had to change about three or four sensors and totally do a hard reset on my PCM to erase all the bad codes and oh not to mention how to place my catalytic converters and O2 sensors also I would not recommend it Lee's trucks computers have too many issues already
@@FrostbiteRam Mine is 04 durango 5.7 hemi stock air box the oil went in and ate a hole in my filter, not to mention fouling my plugs. Should have been a recall.
Wouldn’t the pressurized air blow out of the little filter ? Or does it no longer exit through that way due to being disconnected from the air intake ?
well tried this on 2013 1500 ram and caused low oil pressure code to keep popping up. With the tube connected to mopar air filter at idle would be 37 then did this mod and oil pressure was only at 24 would not recommend ,too bad liked the louder wooshing sound and whistle from smaller filter on it
@@FrostbiteRam well i changed it back and my oil pressure on my dash cluster reading back in 37 on up again nothing done except changed back to mopar filter and tube not dissing and dont know why its affecting my truck like that but just giving heads up to watch ur oil pressure while doin this mod
Go for it, only benefits to installing one especially in my Subaru wrx Sti! A oil catch can does require maintenance but if you install an air oil separator you don’t have to do regular maintenance
My truck recently started getting oil in my air filter, I checked my pcv and it is good. Do you think this mod will help that issue? Or is it something else causing it? I appreciate any advice. Thanks

Reason car companies say it's there is to improve fuel milage and reduce emissions. Makes sense untill it gunks up all your intake. Makes car companies more money doing repairs (cleaning crank case gunk) oil catch cans are sort of a happy medium I think.
