it is scientifically proven that when you listen to rock music, your heart starts to beat to the rhythm of the song. THATS how powerful rock really is, it takes control over you.
JoJo,you have no idea how much fun it is to watch your reaction to this song (and others) that have been a standard for many years. Welcome to the 60's and 70's. We of that era left some of the BEST music for y'all. Keep up the good work.
If you look at the start of the video that is what he is watching, also he mentions it around 3:20 that they are playing in a forest. He just had to cover the video due to copyright and such
You are the absolute cutest!!! It’s so amazing seeing the younger generation listening to music that isn’t their typical/preferred genres and just rocking out and having a blast!! I absolutely love watching your videos they make me smile from ear to ear!! ❤️ Oh and P.S Black Betty isn’t a person, Black Betty is a gun 😉
Black betty was a gun..... This song is a rock song based on a blues song based on a civil war march. The heartbeat like sound you talked about at the beginning it's supposed to represent marching. Black Betty was a nickname for the black bess hunting rifle. Which proved to be one of the best guns of its era. The part that says bam balam it's supposed to represent the sound of the gun shooting. The part of the song where it says Black Betty had a child and the child went wild talks about how when they tried to mass produce the black bess rifle at a quicker Pace than originally was made the mass produced rifles were complete crap. The part where it says that child went blind refers to how the mass produce rifles were extremely inaccurate. And the part of the song that says Black Betty is rock steady and always ready represents how accurate the black bess was and how easy it was to load.
My friend, there's a band you must hear when you are ready for the DEEPEST rabbit hole that music ever made. For most of us OG rockers, PINK FLOYD is everything rock should be. There's wayyyy too many songs to suggest. But great ones to start with are Comfortably Numb, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Brain Damage, Have a Cigar. This music was made for listening with headphones and some 420. If you close your eyes during the songs, it can play with your mind.
Oh I can't agree with you more...I picked up my first pink floyd album in1973...Dark side of the moon, It was mind blowing, and life changing, I spent the rest of my life going to concerts and being a classic rock jock on the radio...what a great life it's been I retired a year ago...
I can't hear this song now days without thinking about Johnny Depp walking through the airport, with a suitcase full of blow, in his white leisure suite in the movie Blow. Anyone else have this problem, lol. ✌💜🎶
I just discovered your channel. I have to tell you something I really love, which is taking songs I have heard and known all my life but allowing me to experience them from a whole new, fresh perspective through the eyes of a young person for whom it is all new. I did a search to see if you have ever reacted to any songs by The Doors. If not, you really should! I think Jim Morrison will blow you away.
Keep up the good work bro! Great song choice. I also just recently discovered this song and group. We learned it, and now we start all our shows with Black Betty, and I always get a kick out of the fact that no matter where we are, people can't help but dance to this song. They dig it! Peace
"Black Betty" was a cadence sung by black confederate soldiers during the civil war. Black Betty was a rifle made in Birmingham, Alabama. The company that made the gun made an "improved model", hence "Black Betty had a child". They hated the new rifle because it didn't shoot straight. Hence, "damned thing gone wild". Ram Jam put music to the 160 year old cadence.
The first time I heard this song it blew my mind I was 10 years old my uncle's had a rock band and they played this song I'm now 55 years old still a good song I enjoy your channel I found it for the first time today
"Black Betty" refers to a musket given to Black Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. It was a piece of shit that wouldn't shoot straight. The soldiers made a marching song out of it's deficiencies, and this song is based on it. Blam da Blam is the rifle firing. "The child is wild" refers to it being inaccurate. So now you know where the soul came from....
The line "If I could have one band open a jar of pickles for me..." had me rolling lol 😂 I swear that's gotta be the greatest interview question of all time.
Black Betty was a reference to a gun from the Civil War. What the younger generation doesn’t understand is with all the great songs of the 60’s, 70,s and even “some” 80’s, the words actually meant something. Yes, they made massive hits out of them, but they sure did stand for something. Those days, Rock was gritty, and every word to every song meant something. Wish I was listening to this for the 1st again. 60’s were the “sock it to me”, (Laugh-In style) era, and 70’s (that’s groovy ) rock was definitely different and..................oh yea, THE BEST. Don’t get me wrong, I still love 💕 me some great 80’s hair Metal, but the 60’s and 70’s had their own vibe, and music was just.... ................oh yea, THE GREATEST!!!!
You've never heard of it because you're young and you have time limits.. We can never fully experience history because of time.. but kudos to you listening to some of the greatest of youngen' time. I'm 42 and I'm still going..
Suggestions: Deep Purple, “Child in Time” or “Burn” Rainbow 🌈, “Stargazer” Uriah Heep, “Stealin’” Blue Oyster Cult, “Astronomy”, Version from “secret treaties“ album.
Late to the party, but re the heartbeat and falling out of your chair, this song like so many of these great songs, get into your head and into your bones. Sadly, very little modern "music" even tries.
You have a very exciting journey ahead if you maintain your musical curiosity. Your eyes will be opened to a whole new universe through exploring wide and varied artists, as you are doing. 🌟Congrats.🌟
You don't need no Black Betty. I had a Brown Betty at 15. Took me from "never kissed a girl" to "done did eveythin' " 2 weeks later. Although I finally got away from my crazy brown Betty 18 months later, my grade point average had dropped from 4.0 to 2.2. A Black Betty might sound like lots of fun, in the end you ask yourself if it was all worth it.
Please react to Heart . All their songs are amazing. This is a rock band from the 70s .Ann Wilson is singing and Nancy is playing guitar. They are still active and these two women are incredible!
Free Bird live in Oakland, PMJ Creep, PMJ All About the Bass, PMJ No Diggity, PMJ Take Me To The Church, PMJ Don't Speak, PMJ Dream On, Moody Blues Knights in White Satin. These will expand your mind on what music is.
Jo Jo, If You have not heard another one is from Wild Cherry and The Song is “Play That Funky Music.” The Best One that I saw in a video was from “The Midnight Special” show. If You can do Your reaction on that One; I would love it; if You have never seen it or heard the song before either. 😊👍🏼👋🏼
