@@Wimya If the gasket is sealed, water won't be a problem, The main risk of a short with an exposed PCB would be coming into contact with a conductor. The little plastic or paper cover, so long as it remains flat against the PCB, is all it should require to protect it from a potential short. Having it glued down in multiple locations would be nice, but not really a big deal, so long as it's not damaged/bent/folded during installation.
Good video! I had the same fitment issue with my recon 3rd brake light. I peeled their weather stripping off and put on some MD auto and marine weather stripping. It’s thicker and fit nice and tight to the cab. Haven’t had a issue since.
Every pick up I’ve had also friends have leaked from that 3rd brake light. I’ve found RTV gasket maker (all colors seem to work just fine) I always used a caulk finishing tool to smooth it out.
Hey what's up man, I have the same truck as you do. I had the same problem, the stock weather striping faded and had a interior leak. I fixed this by going to Walmart and buying widow weather seal. I installed it over the Recon led 3rd brake lights original weather strip.
Hey man, with the bds system, does the geometry feel off while driving? Is it a rough ride? I am thinking of getting the same system for my rebel. Appreciate your feedback!
No the BDS kit feels great! I have nothing negative to say about the actual kit. It’s a bit more firm of a ride due to the Fox struts in the rear but it’s hardly noticeable.
I used Auxito LED bulbs. I posted a video a while back that has the product link in it. It was probably about 1.5 years ago if you look at my video library.
Very late, but the dealer doesn't have a fix. It's a known issue, they either want to replace the light, which will leak again. Their other "fix" is to use RTV sealant which works, but will suck as soon as you have to replace a bulb.
I hope you have better luck then I did with the RECON. I had to make my own gasket out of weather stripping for it to actually seal on the cab. I also had the resistor blow and wouldn’t replace it or send me a new resistor
