Hi Stanley. I am a white collar worker and respect the blue collar industry. What I get most out of your videos is the way your treat your employees and encouraging personality. God bless you too.
Well I have to say I have been an automotive technician for 25 years I'm an ASE certified Master tech and it doesn't matter what you buy they all have fail points built into them and the only reason I'm biased toward Dodge is because I like the way they look and I've have had quite a few over the years and I have had good luck with them and thank you for your blessings, stan
Not a cert. Tech but I did like my dodge as much as my fords tech wise... I sold the dodge couple days go after 45k miles on it... it was a comfortable ride but started showing rust after 2 North east winters and I had to trade it before it got bad ... it was a good truck, no tech problems and only had to swap 2 tires as front end didn't wear well ... got stuck with my chevy on side of road few times but have to say it was a tug of war with that thing all way up to 100k miles ... it turned down hill really fast past 60k n it even sat for couple years before I sold it ...
That 6.4 Hemi is underrated. It is smooth, powerful and just delivers. It’s a tow beast and is reliable. Really you said this truck is BORING. Well for your work, boring is good! Great video!
Andrew Camarata calls the body on his dodge tinfoil. It's one of the few times I've seen him legit mad. I loved the part when you said you had a regular cab because you don't like to torture yourself.
The farmers I work for drive 2014-ish ram 1500 and the only parts that seem to dent are the bumpers. But even then there's no damage to the body. Definitely stronger than Ford's
This is great, I have been doing a little landscaping, friends and family, plowing also and your videos are awsume, you helped a lot when pricing plow jobs and in coming up with my plowing contract, so a big shout out from maine, and go get em
You are correct the factory tires are junk. Ours lasted between 12-15,000 as well. When washing the truck go to the front and back of the rear tire, then put the washer nozzle between the inner fender liner and the open space under the bed. This allows the washer to clean out all the mud and salt that causes rust in the wheel well. We have had Ram trucks since 2011 and have never had one rust over the rear tires like you described because we wash them in this fashion. It is surprising to see how much dirt and grime collect in this area. Great review!!!
Look at this sincere guy and his great channel, man! I love how there's quiet for a few days and suddenly he pulls another piece out of hat. Gotta love the Dirt Monkey! Greetings from Czech republic, Europe.
I'm really happy for you guys, that your having great luck with the pickups. I've heard more times than I can count of current gen hemis eating camshafts or puking the whole engine. One common theme it seems to those cases is LOTS of idle time. IE: squad cars and pickups on construction sites and in mining. Hope they continue to serve you guys in the years ahead, trouble free!
That was a pretty spot on review Stan. My buddy has a 2019 2500 and he beats the snot out of it (general contractor/ surveyor) and that thing keeps comming back for more. Great video catch you on the next one.
Love/Hate is a perfect description. I’ve got a 2019 crew 2500 with the Hemi. No loss of power, quiet cab and comfortable. Run a Meyer 9.5 v-blade and a snowex tailgate salter, begin each storm with a full pallet of salt in the bed. The truck is a beast, but the body is horrible! Mine is covered in little dents as well!
I tell you this, ive had all 3, gas and diesel. Not new of course but these are results ive had , i have only dodge trucks now. 1 2500 gas, and an old w350 12 valve cummins. Only complaint i have is the bodies. But keep in mind, trucks are built for work, when they concentrate on luxury and such you lose somewhere else on it. Ive had 2 duramax, both garbage when worked, my fords pulled great, but maneuvering, and durability in drivetrain was lacking. The dodges done everything i wanted and more. Ive had 1 issue in my 2500. That was an overdrive solenoid
Glad you are having good luck. Four years later two transmissions and rust all over the place my ram 2500 has not been very good Upstate NY . Only good thing I can say about mine is the Cummins engine. Been a nightmare with wiring issues with this truck. My 04 f 350 Dolly does not have anywhere near the rust. Yes it has that 6.0 nightmare engine but at 80 thousand had it bullet proofed 400 thousand miles later it’s still running great and plowing and also put a piece pickup bed dump.kit on it. Don’t know if I’ll get another Dodge after this one . Not been happy with this truck durability after four years
Bought a 98 1/2 ton Ram new and still have it today and it has been one of the best truck that I've ever had. Can't say enough about it. It's towed, hauled construction trailers and materials, done the camping and back trails, etc, and it's not even 4 wheel drive and it just keeps doing the job. Have no complaints about this machine whatsoever!!!
Stan, I o so enjoy watching your videos, we are getting pounded here in NJ, its crazy cold and snowy, and no matter how much salt I throw down its still piling up, you have so much fun with all the toys and I get a tinny snowblower that clogs up just trying to clear my driveway lol, have fun, and say safe
I have been watching from day one love the videos and I really love this new fore-mat I have been Mowing for 30 years with cerebral Palsy and learn many estimate ideas from you shout out would be awesome Chris O’Shaughnessy Riverside Lawns Toms River NJ Keep up the good videos
This is a video I've been looking forward to. In the market for a new truck and glad to see your 2 cents about it. Also really liked the transitions between video clips, nice touch Danny. Keep up the great work Stanley. Hope those trucks will last you another 3 years problem free, and dents give a truck character.
Love the great in-site on different types of equipment there is out there from landscape, to construction to plowing so informative been so helpful thank you
Reminds me of a few nights driving a plow (10 yard dump truck) and the float wasn't sticking for the front plow. Short little bungee cord made it work. Luckily it got fixed quick but in a pinch...
16:45 The Ram might go through the snow better because of its stiffer chassis and coil spring rear suspension with trailing arms (as opposed to bare leaf springs without trailing arms). Preventing wheel hop helps so much in the snow.
I agree with you Stan on how long it takes to truly get an opinion on a truck. When I got my 2019 Ram 1500 I hated it after the first 3 months. Now that I’ve had it for two years I absolutely love the truck!
Between my little brother, my step dad, and I we have every generation of dodge/ Ram pick up trucks. None of our trucks have any body rust nor transmission issues. My 2nd gen and 4th gen have over 300,000 miles. My 5th gen is rolling over 150,000 no issues. My trucks are v10 and 6.4L. My step dad and little brother have the cummins. I’ll stand by my trucks. I live in PA and I rarely wash my trucks. They all have dents and dings but it’s a truck it adds character and a story.
@@Dirtmonkeywe use salt a lot in the mountains of PA. I the reason they rust out over the wheel wells are the water never really drains out. I went and bored out the drain holes and that is what saved them from the rust.
@@gmdick247 was backing a trailer in mud and heard a bad sound. After that reverse got progressively weaker until it quit. Drove it until forward gears started having the same problem.
I have a 05 Dodge Dakota. 200,000 miles on it. To this day still runs great. People ask me why don't I get a new one, why it stills works. Agreed about the rust around the wheel well. Love a shout out for my business J&J Landscaping and Irrigation. Thanks for your honesty in the videos Love them. Learn so much from you
It’s great watching your videos! I watch them a lot and always enjoy the content you put! You always have stuff to show and explain to teach us through your experiences!! And now giving shout outs! You’re awesome keep it up!
Can’t agree more Stan! I ran a 8’ straight blade on my ‘15 Ford F-250 for 5yrs..I switched over this season to a ‘17 ram 2500 6.4 with the same plow and it’s just keeps moving forward. The Ford just seemed to light in the rear end. For that reason I lean towards the ram. As long as the body is on the frame I could care less of the body shape
I've had my RAM for 5 years, and the only complaint is the rust that you mentioned over the rear wheel wells... I was a Chevy Truck Guy, but after my RAM, it's hard to go back..
Even in texas the rusty suspension bugs me. All surface not coastal or salt water. Just annoying to see. However, my diesel ram pulls my tractor, shredder and trailer, scaling 22,000 alone, with a 1500lbs if fuel and tools in the bed perfectly. Even overpowered the parking brake i left on by accident. Only traveled 20ft though. I loved my "cateye" as its done stuff its not supposed to but this diesel is a monster..
Chrysler products have been weak in the body department for years. That's why I shy away from them. The last new Chrysler car I bought around 1980 couldn't even keep the paint on. Ive never heard they improved since then either. I hope they didn't fk up the Jeep line when they took it over.
Thanks for the awesome content and sharing your options on the ram trucks. Keep up the brilliant work and can’t wait to see what’s in store next take care and Hope you and family and everyone has a great work 👍
Those were the spark plug cannons in the 5.4. I worked at a Ford dealer back then. Shop was full of trucks getting new heads before the reengineer. The techs got reeeeeal good at pulling the cabs off of the trucks do they could get at the engines.
thanks for doing. so my setup is 2016 2500hd silverado double cab. 29hd snoway and snoway spreader. At this point I would probably get this again. currently approx 30k. I love to see and get honest feedback on other brands - plows etc. God bless you and family and appreciate all you do.
@@xcalibertrekker6693 Well, a 3/4 ton truck does a better job at pulling a 17.5 tonne tanker truck than a 1/2 ton, so yes, both trucks needed new transmissions so I finished them off with a torture test
Glad you like the vids Robert. People call me all kinds of monkeys- snow monkey, forestry chimp hahah- just depends on what Im doing.Have an awesome rest of your week bro!
I love to drive in the snow And I've driven all different makes and models of vehicles in the snow tractors And as far as vehicles with wheels Seems like Dodges do the best out of anything
Toyo m55 tires, ran those for years with 0 issues. BF GOODRICH TRACTION T/As is a great snow tire, not to be run in summer. I had rams since 96 and my first diesel in 99, 01,03,05 , 13 and my big ram 5500 is a16. All my trucks were 6sp except for the 16 and that was my first auto, and I would go back to a stick immediately if they offer them again.
I think that was a very straight forward and well thought out review of you Ram pickups. I was curious about how well they were holding up and what you thought. Very good review.
I live in PA and just came in from plowing with my ATV( my drive, elderly neighbors, in-laws,etc..) I purchased a 2020 RAM Bighorn that I love and hoped to put a plow on it to be warm while plowing but the 1500’s have a splayed frame for cabin safety (changed for 2021, not safety but so you can use a plow) I wish I would’ve know that and maybe just stepped up to a 2500. Anyway, love the channel and content. Keep up the great work
@@erikrobles5727 the 8 speeds they use now are the best transmission on the market at the moment they we're originally used in high end luxury cars like the G wagon and several audi cars so they were well proven. A big step up from the 47re and the 65rfe in the 90s and 2000s Rams will always have that stain though.
You must not know much about Ram transmissions. They have tossed in some of the worst Transmissions in history into their recent products. Ever since the name change... to RAM... they have shipped out a lot of trucks the ended up having major trans problems. I’m not even gonna mention the “pre Ram” days. 💥 😂
@@HbEthan. the one you’re referring to has a fair few recorded issues there bud. Might want to do a little research on them. 😂 and no..l I’m not brand loyal to anything. Every manufacturer is capable of producing absolute garbage. Especially in the vehicle world. But RAM seems to be EXTREMELY efficient at producing sub par products... even when they source their parts from other manufacturers... still junk! 😂
Man I want that trailer, mines solid wood car carrier that I slapped steel and wooden 4ft wallz on, I was attempting to slap on a couple hydraulic pumps on to lift mine but it was just too damn heavy to lift, so I have to assist it especially with a load of shingles or dirt or wood, but house hold waste it would lift all on its own. Lolz
I've seen people put a pallet in the front of the trailer put a chain to the pallet under the load and have a bulldozer hook on to pull it out or a post
Lovin' the video's Stanley! Your videos - and your positive/work hard attitude encourage us. Thank you! We do snow removal up here in Canada and landscape construction! Cheers
I finally subscribed after always catching your videos on the recommended. Not a big fan of the ram trucks but you gave me a different perspective. We run Ford F2 50s with utility bodies. And a lot of back hose with flowers on them here in Massachusetts. Keep up the great work man!
Give that 6.4 some time and you’ll need a “valve adjustment” because that engine is flawed. They have have problems oiling the cam and lifters. The lobes start to flatten and they sound like a diesel. Dodge has a solution and that is tightening the valve springs, which only compounds the issue. 2018 power wagon with 68,000 miles and I need a new engine. I’m buying a Ford with the off-road package, it comes with a rear locker.
Those issues are not common. That’s 1% of hemi engines that have lifter and cam issues. Most of those are due to excessive idle time and improper oil or service intervals.
@@mjberta7319 not a good look if idling your engine ruins it though. That's why I like GM trucks. They've had their engines down pat for decades. I don't like everything about GM but they have the basics down and that's what counts in the long run.
Really good video on how well they hold up in real work situations. The big negative for me is the rust issues around the wheel wells. I had a 1975 Chevrolet 3/4 ton that rusted away on me. It was a big turn off. Thank you so much for your honest assessment. Video quality very 👍 keep up the good work.
Hey Stanley, my boss has a 2017 Ram 2500 crew cab short bed with the 6.4 and he hauls trailers with our 10k lbs excavator and his factory tires lasted about 40k miles, we loved them!! I have a 2020 Ram 2500 crew cab long bed 6.4 and have 9k miles on my factory tires and no complaints, even plow with it, just throw some weight in the back
Our company has been using all fords. They have lasted really well, both the gas and the diesels have treated us well. We currently have 63 trucks on the road.
All of the big three have great trucks, I’ve owned them all, I’ve had good, bad an ugly with all of them, I’ve seen all three with nothing but problems right from the start and I’ve seen all three go forever without a hiccup.
@@Dirtmonkey I usually go with the one I can get the best deal on, I don’t look at them as which brand it is but which one will be the best deal for what I need it to do, if it’s a half ton it would be dodge or Chevy all day, Ford has wimped out their half ton to much, but as for 3/4 ton and up I really don’t have a preference on brand.
I absolutely love my GMC Duramax rides so nice pulls like fright train been the best truck ever... But chassis wise the Ford and dodge H-D hold more weight they are all the same I prefer the GMC 2500 they ride so nice for a H-D
Greetings from Cow Hampshire: 2004 F250 blew a head gasket at 150K. 2019 RAM 2500 6.4L with 15K, tires are about tread life, purchased Fisher 7’ 6” straight blade HD2 this past January - no complaints at all with this truck & plow.
Dodge gave me a horrible time in the past, "BRAND NEW" 8k miles and transmissions blew. 1 month later after replaced 2nd "NEW" transmission completely broke from the vehicle. 8 months after the 2nd new transmission, 11k miles engine blew. It was a standard get around town vehicle, and after the engine blew went to Ford and NEVER LOOKED BACK!
Maybe I'm too superstitious, But you were making me nervous as you kept saying never had an issue! it's been my luck when I make those comments something ALWAYS goes wrong! lol I really appreciate the love you show your subscribers, I think the shout outs are fun and a good way to keep people engaged. I also try to find something to say just so I have a reason to comment to help with the algorithm!
Stan I just pulled a 8,100lbs boat back from Boston to Minnesota in a 2020 ram 2500 diesel I was so impressed fuel mileage was on the way there was 23mpg and back was significantly lower 10mpg but up hills around bends it never seemed like it was working to hard. 2k rpms like that whole trip it was wild. I will own a ram someday. Great video! -Dan
The old 12v Cummins can get 20-21 with no def system and zero electronics. Towing a load that size I would expect to get around 13-14 in mine and it gets around 17 empty with the 3 speed auto so I'm not even tuned optimally. I wouldn't touch a newer diesel with the emissions garbage. Early 2007 and before is pre emissions on the Cummins trucks.
My 16 Ram 2500 Crewcab really does do everything I’ve ever been stupid enough to do to save a trip. Last week I had 3200lb of concrete on top of my 600lb toolbox, while towing a dump trailer with 4 yards of 3/4 gravel in the front and a pallet of cinder blocks in the back. Still stopped no problem and had no real problem getting up to highway speed
I have owned all 3 Ford Chevy and Dodge I’ll stick to my Fords they all have problems but my fords never let me down like my chevy did and my dodge did and ford actually stood by there product they sold me
@@Dirtmonkey as a body tech in wisconsin i do have to say lord help u if u have a non aluminum super duty they rot bad. So bad that i just replaced all 4 of the bed supports and mounts on a 2015 lol. Never seen something rust so bad so quick.
I am a Ford guy for life. But, I had an opportunity for a really good deal on a Ram back on 2015. Got the Ram extended cab. I love it. The transmission is an Allison 8 speed. No hesitation on downshifting. Doesn't miss a beat. The firestone tires lasted 25000 miles, which was pushing it. I got the Falken Wildpeak A/T's and they are terrific. Got 45000 miles on them and they still have another year to go (about). Just turned 70000 miles.
