ನಾಮದ ಚಿಲುಮೆ - ತುಮಕೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ದೇವರಾಯನ ದುರ್ಗದ ಸಮೀಪವಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಣೀಯ ಸ್ಥಳ. ಇದು ತುಮಕೂರು ನಗರದಿಂದ ೧೦ ಕಿ.ಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
ರಾಮಾಯಣ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರ, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ, ಸೀತೆ ಕೆಲ ಕಾಲ ದೇವರಾಯನದುರ್ಗ ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವನವಾಸ ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದರು ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳ ಪುರಾಣ ಇದೆ. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹಣೆಗೆ ತಿಲಕವಿಡುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಬಂದಿತು. ನೀರಿಗಾಗಿ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ನೋಡಿದರೂ ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನೀರು ಸಿಗಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಆಗ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲೇ ಬಾಣ ಹೂಡಿ ಒಂದು ಬಂಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟಾಗ, ಬಾಣ ಒಳಹೊಕ್ಕು ರಂಧ್ರವನ್ನು ಕೊರೆದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರಿನ ಬುಗ್ಗೆ ಚಿಮ್ಮಿತು. ಆ ನೀರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ರಾಮ ತನ್ನ ಹಣೆಗೆ ನಾಮವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿದನಂತೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಈ ಚಿಲುಮೆಗೆ ನಾಮದ ಚಿಲುಮೆಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಕಡು ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಚಿಮ್ಮುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುವುದು ವಿಶೇಷ. ನಾಮದ ಚಿಲುಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಮ್ರಗಾಲಯವಿದ್ದು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಜಿಂಕೆ, ಕವಡೆ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳಿವೆ. ತಂಪಾದ ಗಾಳಿ, ಉತ್ತಮ ಮರಗಳು, ತುಂಟ ಕೊತಿಗಳು, ಬಣ್ಣ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿರುವ ಇದು ವಾರಾಂತ್ಯ ಕಳೆಯಲು ಉತ್ತಮ ಸ್ಠಳ.
Once upon a time, during the exile of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana, the trio made the present-day Namada Chilume one of their pit stops. During their stay here, one day Rama set out in search of water to apply tilak on his forehead.
The long and arduous search for water was unsuccessful in that rough terrain. So Rama decided to stop the search and thought why not create a source of water? He shot an arrow at a boulder and lo and behold, it made a hole in the boulder and out came water!
