President Cyril Ramaphosa has referred the Copyright Amendment Bill and Performers’ Protection Amendment Bill to the Constitutional Court. Both houses of Parliament approved the draft laws on February 29 this year. The signing of the bills has received mixed reaction. Chairperson of the Copyright Coalition of South Africa, Chola Makgamathe unpacks this.
