Tobin, I purchased the Bulimica razor (Gun Black) off Amazon after your Conifer review and it really shaves well. The blade gap may make it seem aggressive, but I didn't have any irritation doing 3 passes for 3 days using it with a Gillette Nacet blade. I don't have coarse hair and it was super smooth. I have only been wet shaving since August 2023 so I am a veteran newbie😊 If a person new to wet shaving wants to try it maybe use a Derby blade or a blade that is more mild? For the price a newbie can take a chance.😊
I will agree that many new wetshavers run to Amazon. I’m interested in seeing your upcoming razor videos. Thanks for the shout out and looking forward to the 3rd Thursday shaves.
I really appreciate what you have done, what you are doing and what you will do for us traditional shaving crazy people. Keep it up. Greetings from Rome, Italy. oops...I forgot...THROWBACKS😉👍🙋♂️
I use 1/32 tsp of soap with 1 1/4 tsp of distilled water. That’s for a 3-pass shave. I have 3 soaps. I will have enough to last me about 3-4 years. I am a minimalist. I have 1 razor (Karve Overlander), 2 brushes, 2 lathering bowls. I picked up enough Russian blades (Gillette Platinum & Wizamet Super Iridium) to last me until at least 2036. The Razor Company has a smoking hot deal on Wizamet Super Iridium blades (250 pack) this Memorial Day Weekend. 11% off for Russian made blades. The St. Petersburg plant is now CLOSED so they won’t be making the same blades!! Get them while you can.
Hey Tobin! Not only are you a great content creator, but you are an amazing math teacher!😂 I have 64 soap/ splash sets! I just turned 51 on Monday, and I still want more sets! I guess I'll be set for life and then some!
I love the options and the different perspectives from watching all my favorite RU-vidrs. Bary is making some great videos. … I’m trying lol. I’m having fun. Thanks for the wisdom you pour into all your videos. We amateurs soak it all up! Thanks again bro
So you're talking about soap usage. I've found something like this: Depending on the actual soap formula being used, as low as 0.41 grams of soap for a lather or as much as about 0.8 grams of soap for a lather.
Congrats to the winners and glad to hear Andy did a 180. I have been waiting and looking forward your Athena review, I've seen all the others review it and would love your take on it. Also I think the Amazon razor is good idea because I look at more budget razors like those, Ali express, reddit shave bazaar etc so a cheaper razor review for new shavers and even guys who want a good razor at a cheap price is always nice.
Thats awesome to hear Andy is doing better. Congrats to the winners! I use more soap than that since i also shave my head but with my current tub count with 80 shaves per tub and shaving every other day i have enough for 67 more years bringing me up to 110 years old. For the razors i would mention how the razors feels (blade feel or none) and closeness of shave (how well it shaves) since most look for those over others. I would mention the material its made of incase they care about that but mention if it comes in other metals as well. Matthew is a great guy and its cool he's going to be on a show with you. Instagram is still having viewing each other issues and not seeing everyone on the live in the list. Have a great weekend
Thanks Mike! Only 110 years? 😊 It amazes me how many people in the shave community still insist on using Instagram. I was done with it after that last one months ago with Smiley, Ben and Sig. But I miss the format. Maybe we can start a trend within the community.
You are so right about how long our collections could last. I laugh when folks talk about how little product you can use. If you are truly in the hobby, don’t even think about it. Just enjoy. I have a better chance of the soap going bad and losing all its scent then to use it all up.
That beautifull dog has stolen my heart, what a beauty ! I just got a mental reminder: is your son going to shave with you again. Just asking because I believe he is the heir of most of your stuff. (?) That black and blue shirt looks amazing ! ! ! ! ! !
She's a cutie pie! Growing too damn fast too! And yes sir, I want to do at least one with him this summer. Your comment reminds me that I need to discuss it with him again. Thanks Marcus!
Great Tobin! I did stop buying soap a few years back, but you still end up acquiring tubs other ways. I guess part of the reason I don't bother to get precise on how much I scoop is that there quite a bit of differences in how much is needed between the different artisans and the other is I'm not looking to conserve a soap or get the most mileage from it. The same with blades, 3 or 4 shaves and gone. I have been thinking about scents and it got me to thinking that someone should come up with a chart that would help someone better to target scents they like. You would kind of plot what you've gotten and those points would help you to make better buying decisions. I've seen it with politics and other things where there are quadrants and your likes make points that create a zone. Now I'm becoming a snerd-lol! Just a weird idea I guess. Take care!
@@Tobins_throwbacks Ok, sure! I think a lot of artisans put the information in their description, it's just a matter of charting it so you can have a visual representation of a person's likes. Sometimes I can't stop the ideas from just popping up-lol! Have a great one!
Congrats to all the winners. As of now I have about 15 soaps and some are triple milled soap and does seems to last for ever. I never measured the amount I scoop. I use a guitar pick and scoop about the size of it ma surface into a bowl, the triple milled soaps they get lather on. Throwbacks!
@@Tobins_throwbacks well there’s an idea to try but I don’t do that. What I mean is the triple milled soap puck I load my brush right on them, I have heard of people cutting or grating a piece of the pucks to load in a bowl.
Chris, I can't say thank you enough for your support brother! I appreciate you! Let me know what you think when they arrive, they have a great 30 day money back policy too
Hey Tobin, I am thrilled to hear Andy is making a great recovery. I guess all our prayers have helped. Great video. Do you know who Joe Bonamasa is? He refers to his home as Nerdville. With that in mind, i think your shave den should be called Schnerdville. THROWBACKS
Joe Bonamasa is a Blues Rock guitarist. He does have a YT channel. I really enjoy blues and classic rock from the mid to late 60s and the 70s. He put a lot of it together. Check him out if you are inclined. There is a lot of videos on YT.
