Thank you for posting this excellent video. I was looking for reviews of the Envoy razor. Yours is a really outstanding review which allows me different views of how you use the razor. This is what I was looking for.
The Rex envoy is a fantastic razor, well worth the money, it’s good for daily shaving and to shave with even 2 weeks of growth, not many razors can do both, great video, the soap, splash and balm look good too 👍
Rex definitely makes quality safety razors. I bought the Rex Ambassador after I started back to traditional wet shaving in 2020. I've never shaved with the Envoy. But I will say that the Ambassador on setting 3 is too aggressive for me. I do my first pass on setting 2 and finish my shave on setting 1. My issue is that I don't like the Ambassador's positive blade exposure. Too much blade feel is not for me. That's why the Rockwell 6S is my favorite. It's the smoothest DE I've used. Once again proving that YMMV. BTW, the Razorock Gamechanger is made from 316 stainless steel at almost one-third the price of the Envoy. Many shavers claim it is smoother than the 6S.
Got the leaf and twig direct. Converting from plastic. Thanks for getting me on track w the shave gear. Stuff not delivered yet. Saw the rex shavers look great. Way more money than I want to spend tho.
At some point, I hope you decide to review some of the Razorock razors. The Razorock razors don't get enough attention IMO. They have 316 stainless razors that are as affordable as many zamac razors, but are machined to tolerances of the most expensive artisan razors. Their safety razor line also go from mild to wild aggressive. They have several popular lines of razor. Here are two: The more blade feel line of razor Lupo, and less blade feel Gamechanger. I suggest you try the Gamechanger .84 and either the Lupo 58 or 72. Razorock is super high quality stainless and prices everyone can afford. Their razor handles are the best you can buy without a doubt.
@ohioshaves rex envoy I give you credit for the head shaves with a safety razor. I still can’t get it done with one. I bought the Leaf Twig for that reason. Fell in love with the razor but just can’t shave the dome with it. Someday maybe. Keep the great content coming! Thanks!
I also have a sensetive neckline, but this is the first razor I have used that does not give me any irritation. It’s a great razor and money well spent I think.
I wasn’t either until I shaved with it. Only one shave so far but no irritation under my jaw line at all even after buffing both sides 3 and 4 times to get BBS. Haven’t found a razor yet that I didn’t get some irritation after that many times but YMMV
Ya ever heard of REC in Columbus? Was my first time going and it happened to be their 20th anniversary event and it was elite tier. Not only the event, but also the store! HOLY COW! Knives galore, and a nice section of shaving stuff from fine, Parker and a few other shave companies
Can't wait to hear your review of the new Sentry Razor by Rex. I know you don't like slants but that one has a neutral blade exposure and it would be perfect for your face. I think anyway.
@ohioshaves rex envoy I discovered your channel recently and I’m really enjoying your videos. Your experiences with the Henson jibe with my own, so I suspect your experiences with other razors will be especially helpful to me.
@@OhioShavesSensitive skin for sure, but luckily pretty light beard growth. The way you make razors mow through that thick week's beard growth is impressive.
@ohioshaves rex envoy Just getting back into shaving. I had a full beard since 2021. I couldn’t locate my wet shaving supplies so I ordered a Henson A13. From your recommendations and others. I guess have had an aggressive razor before as I had issues with nicks and cuts often. Knowing my former cheapskate self it was likely a knock off of a knock off cheapie razor. I do remember feather blades would slice my face all up. From your videos and others I will soon have three razors in my inventory. The Henson, a Leaf Twig and a Rockwell 6c. I’ve been using your 10% off code a few places. And I find it interesting how you change up your beard from shave to shave at time. Gives me ideas of what to do. My techs at work didn’t notice when I shaved the beard off. I left a mustache and goatee which is my normal shave going back to the 90’s. They may not even notice when I change up the beard shape. Anyway, I’ve been enjoying your videos. Especially the sounds of the razor slicing off the facial hairs. Almost as good as the sound of bacon cooking on a weekend morning. Or any morning for that fact.
How would you guys rate the efficiency of the leaf twig compared to the 6c on a 3 plate? I also have a Parker 78r and had a Henson Al13 mild. Considering the twig for its unique looks & colors.
Beautiful looking razor. Nice and crispy shave. The splash and balm look refreshing and enticing. Loving the editing work and the bathroom decor looks great. Would love to add the envoy to my collection along with my Henson mild you gave me. 2nd favorite razor for sure, but I gotta give the #1 spot to my 6s. Happy Shaving. @ohioshaves rex envoy
Great question. I'm going to compare these two razors side-by-side because they are a little different. I'm not 100% sure what plate it's going to fall on, so let's wait and see. My guess would be a four or five plate, but don't hold me to that
@ohioshaves rex envoy Thanks for another fantastic video. This my first time posting a comment, but I have been enjoying your channel and been a subscriber for months. I am new to DE razors and have learned a ton from you and would echo what others have said about the great production quality of your videos. Always informative and a pleasure to watch. Keep up the great work!
@ohioshaves rex envoy Great video, great content altogether. I'm from Bosnia, and a just switched to safety razors, I'm not going back to cartridge ones. Anyway, I've done some research, and basically here I can only buy three or four types of DE razors, the Wilkinson Sword Classic (the black plastic one), the King C Gillette, a couple of lesser known brands and that's it. For blades, it's about 5-6 brands. Anyway still enough to get into the great world od classic shaving. Carry on with the good content.
@OhioShaves Rex Envoy Thank you for the chance to win this razor! Would love to try the REX Envoy. Use the 1955 Balm from Razor Emporium and it is wonderful.
Hey man looked like a great shave! I see a lot of people are wanting you to try the ambassador and konsul. I would like to see your thoughts as well! If Matt isn’t going to send them I have both I would be willing to send to you to review and compare if that’s something you do? Just make sure you send them back lol let me know👍
It’s pretty close between the two but if I had to choose only one it would be the konsul. It’s sneaky efficient with how smooth it feels as the ambassador is efficient as well you just know it’s being so. Really depends on the mood that day in which one I would shave with. Also have the Karve overlander and Karve Christopher Bradley. Don’t know if you’ve tried them, both great as well and I could send them if you haven’t tried or reviewed them yet. Let me know. Videos are great 👍
@ohioshaves rex envoy Don’t have a Rex razor, the envoy looks fantastic. 1966 is my birth year, tried to subtly hint at a birthday gift, sadly no one took the bait. Great video, very enjoyable!
@ohioshave Rex Envoy I also dig the 1966. I first bought the 1955. Good performance but a little too floral for me. Is the Envoy around the same weight as a 6S? Keep the vids coming!!
Kinda having a hard time settling on one razor. I don’t mind spending the money on a nice razor but definitely don’t want to be buying more than one. Looking for the best “do it all razor”. Was thinking about the Henson ti-22 ++ but am starting to switch tracks to an adjustable in case I would like a different aggressiveness for whatever reason. I think my gut is leaning towards the Rockwell t2 for ease of adjustment. Any thoughts?
@OHIOSHAVES REX ENVOY I own the Rex Ambassador and it is such a quality built razor! It should due to the high price but well worth it. I am just curious as to what aggression the Rex Envoy has is comparable to which setting on the Ambassador? I have been contemplating on purchasing the Envoy. I'll do my due diligence and research it a bit more. Thanks for reviewing this razor and the giveaway! JimG from Northfield, Ohio!!
@ohioshaves rex envoy Great review. I will say I've yet to have the perfect shave yet. Ive been close but that alum block always finds a sting lol. Just curious do they also provide a stand for the razor? That face shave was dam near perfect.
Another great video as always. I was wondering when you were going to test the Rex Envoy. I'm curious, any plans to test the Rex Konsul? I own both the Envoy and the Konsul. They're both fantastic razors. The Envoy can be a bit too aggressive for my semi-sensitive skin if I shave every other day. That's where the adjustable beauty of the Konsul shines.
I will review it if Matt over at Rex Supply Co. Sends one to me. I haven’t found a slant razor that I like yet. Having sensitive skin the cheap slant agitate my skin, and this is the complete opposite of what a slant Razor suppose to do 🫣
@@OhioShaves and I think that's where the research that Matt has done comes into play. The Konsul slices through the hair so smoothly and efficiently that even on say setting 3, feels like a Henson AL13 mild. It's crazy good. Definitely spendy at $350 but to me it's absolutely worth it.
@ohioshaves rex envoy Great shave! I’m a beginner to wetshaving and you make it look so effortless. I have a Merkur 34c but I keep getting irritation. I hope my technique improves. I’m currently experimenting with different blades to see if that helps.
@ohioshaves rex envoy Great review. The shave was effortless.Very nice razor indeed. That balm looks fantastic.I noticed your face looks fantastic after this shave and I watch your videos all the time 😊.So that combination works fantastic 😊.I know you love Nivea but quality balm like this is worth investing a couple bucks more in my opinion.
I tried tackling two weeks of growth on my head and it really struggled because it wasn't aggressive enough. I could see if you only had 3 or 4 days of growth, it being a very great head shaver.
I use the leaf shaver razor. Those three blades are so aggressive. It just slices off hair on my head. The feather is on my list of razors. Can't wait to try it someday. Maybe they'll send one to me so I can give it away to all the viewers.
@ohioshaves Rex Envoy Great video! I don’t feel $150 for a USA stainless razor is crazy. I feel Razor emporium stuff really contributes to the community & will one day be collectors items. How would you compare to a Rockwell 6c on a 3 plate or a Parker 78R for efficiency & smoothness? Thanks for the quality content. I look forward to some comparison shaves you do with the Rex.
@@OhioShaves I have to 100% agree with that. The 6c is my smoothness benchmark hands down. Under the mustache ATG pass with 6c is unbeatable for me. I’ve had/have many razors but the 6c is the only razor I have 2 of just in case I drop and break 1 🤣🤣
I just started double edge shaving, switching over from cartridges. Have watched several @OhioShaves videos, I went ahead and picked up the Rockwell 6C. I’m very impressed and glad I got it. I feel it cuts better without the irritation I normally get with a disposable blade. If you pick up a Rockwell 6c, you won’t be disappointed
@@OhioShaves Thank you that's good cause I'm looking for a de razor for a good bbs on the head other than just the leaf razor and thorn which I already have thank you
That all depends on Matt over at razor Emporium. I was very happy to get this razor from him. Definitely shoot him an email and let him know every comment helps.😁
@ohioshaves rex envoy Damn looks awesome. The price doesn't seem to bad considering the materials used and the country where it is produced. Looks like a comfortable shave and it's nice to know there are other razors than the Rockwell 2c/6c that are smooth shavers and works well for people with sensitive skin. Nice shave. Just out of curiosity, have you ever shaved with a Gillette minora blade? I recently started using them in the Henson Al13 ++ and my 2c and it works well with both razors.
Nice. I do have some of those Gilletts, but I am really stuck on the persona USA made blades in my Henson's. They just fit perfectly and there is no blade movement in the cap. With some of the Gillette razor blades, I have to ram the blade in the top cap for it to seat properly. I don't believe they manufacture as precise as personna does when it comes to fit and finish in different types of razors. Does that make sense? Have you had this issue?
@@OhioShaves I can not say that I have had that problem. Mine fit perfectly fine. I do have the habit of bending the blade in the top cap before assembling the rest of the razor so that's probably why. I'm glad though because the lower part of my neck is very sensitive. The only place I do shave at the moment. I haven't shaved with any personna blades yet because they are difficult to find where I'm from.
@ohioshaves rex envoy Another great video. Have you thought about making one or know if there is an online platform, like Discord, for de razor users to all come together?
@ohioshaves rex envoy Great Video, great razor and great giveaway from a great guy. Thanks a lot! Have a great Sunday! Greetings from Germany Christian
I echo some of these comments - really enjoy your editing and post production. Do you always prefer to apply balm after the splash? I’ve seen quite the debate on this @ohioshaves rex envoy
You really are DOING A GREAT JOB. Thank you! Hey, quick question and an observation..Question: if you had to buy one razor: Rockwell 6C or Henson? And (and maybe it's because I am a cheap SOB), I notice that Day 1 with a new blade is fantastic. Day 2 and I really have to watch cuts. Day 3 and it's great again. My theory is the blade new is, of course, 100%. Day 2 it is part new and part "broken in." Day 3 it is all broken in. Noticed that? I definitely want in the giveaway. This thing looks hefty!
Thank you much . #1. I am a huge fan of the rockwell 6's. I say this because I shave my head and my face. If I was just shaving my face, I would probably stick with the Henson. I get more perfect shaves out of this razor than any other have used. #2. I normally only use a blade one time and then throw it away. They're so damn cheap and I have so many of them to choose from. I do agree, after a few shaves they dull out but I've never noticed having a bad shave between day two and three. What blades are you using currently?
@@OhioShaves Super cool. Hey, I'd be curious what some of your viewers do in terms of blade use: how many shaves on average? As said earlier, I got 3 shaves beautifully. JUST went for shave #4. BAD IDEA. Whether it was the blade state, the Manscaped Plow utility, my need to get ready for a high level contract call with attorneys in 7 minutes or a combination of all 3, I nicked under chin and all around mouth. So the answer for me is 3. THREE days. Not 4. Hahaha.
@ohioshaves Rex Envoy This is right up there with classy, high-end razors, which just seem unfathomable in how well they are made. Way out of my league.
