Great stories again. I was born in 82 and lived almost next to Hersham station. I used to go to Rydens School in the early 90s and would frequently watch slammers, plastic pigs, 47s, 50s and 159s hurtle past our school field between Hersham and Walton stations. I wish I could go back to that time just for a day and experience all that again. Nice to hear a driver's perspective. Can't wait for the part 3 that I presume is coming soon?

A superb collection of videos Geoff. Very much appreciated as I grew up in Woking during the sixties and was an avid trainspotter at the station and surrounding areas. Was one those annoying young teenagers clustered around the busstops on the town side of the station's bay platform heckling footplate crews trying to get a fully loaded Bullied Pacific off the mark and on its way to Waterloo on damp rails without the wheels slipping!!! Also great memories of trainspotting at 'Twin Bridge's, 'Stoney Slab' and out of the windows of the class rooms at Monument Hill School spotting what loco was was heading the ACE and the Bournmouth Belle!!! Happy days!!

Brilliant Geoff! I liked the Auto Brake myself,Its all about confidence, That constant "Click Click" from the EP brake did my head in.That turn you spoke about to Basingstoke was the 04.28 Paper Train to Farnborough Fleet and Basingstoke, We use to have our PNB then work the Stopper out of the Down Bay (8TC and a 33) to Salisbury, We then worked a stopper all Stations to Basingstoke then Woking and fast to Wloo, On Arrival couple onto a 4 Rep, the 33 was taken off for the 1010 to Salisbury and our Train was the 09.45 to Bournemouth as far as Woking, I loved the turn as a Woking Guard because you worked with a Woking Driver.

33/1 KB worked with the high pipes for EMU's, 4TC's. 33/1 & 4TC's finished on Bournemouth to Weymouth in 1988, They finished on the Salisbury trains May 1989. The 33/2 were slims for the Hasting line narrow tunnels.

Happy memories of being a youngster waiting on Platform 2 at Working for a train back to West Byfleet. What a sight and sound of a 91 hurtling though Woking at full pelt was amazing. Really enjoying the series of videos.

How Interesting. Remember Cyril Sweet and his old saying '' Got the Idea'' in his Welsh accent and of course who could forget Ted Lynch of Salisbury.

Ted 'buggerlugs' Lynch Cryil 'get the idea' Sweet, Mick Oakley and Phil Bassett, were all involved in my MP12 course at Southampton Training school, I passed first time at Stewarts Lane, with Wally Ward doing the grilling.... summer of '78. Given one of Rut the Nut's numbered EP keys 8635. So there I was, a passed secondman, aged 20, class 33 and TC under my belt. Thanks Geoff, fantastic memories of my early years on the Motive Power at Fratton.MPD, inspired by yours at Woking.

I think the electric set makes the film, although I can see why you were disappointed not to get the unobstructed passing shot.. That lush greenery though is a disgrace.
