I too am rough with my decks and a lot of mine have what I call 'the riffle shuffler's bow'. I'm glad to see that the production of this edition is much improved and that it looks to be the same size of the indie version. Not stoked about the lack of borders on such busy artwork but I know people's mmv on that. I know that the matte cardstock seems to make the colours less intense but weirdly, the inide version has a really lovely matte cardstock and the colours are super vibrant. Thank you for making this comparison video, I'm not sure if I feel I would need this new version except maybe for the guidebook. Really enjoyed the reading demo at the end, it's always great to get a peek at how other folx read.
I cancelled my pre-order for this deck but have now ordered it after watching this side-by-side review. Thanks for posting it. I have the 1st edition but as I do most of my readings in the evening find it very dark. This lighter edition with more 3D shading helps me with isolating parts of the image. I shall enjoy it for sure. I’ve just paired it with the Deadly Apothecary Oracle with its dark background which aesthetically works well for a pairing. The card I drew to summarise the theme of my reading is perfect too. 😊
I confess that, even when you post walkthroughs of decks I'm not interested in, I'll still watch the video because you'll invariably talk about things I *am* interested in (rambles, observations, constructive criticism, etc. of larger subjects; representation, the tarot industry, etc.) or prompt deeper thought on my behalf. ... which is a smooth segue into my not mentioning the subject of this walkthrough and instead asking if you'd do a walkthrough/ramblethrough the Greenwood Tarot! It's a deeply fascinating deck, and I'm not just referring to its tempestuous history. I know Chesca has made the art available for people to *ahem* ""peruse"" at their own leisure, along with her handy-dandy handbook (her ideas, symbol meanings, inspirations, etc.; not the same as the official guidebook, from what I understand) which means the deck isn't altogether unattainable. But it isn't discussed much, which I find a shame.
I don't love this art but I own Poppy Palins Everyday Enchantment from Red Feather and it is very similar. I think the problem in tarot tube has been cast as though the decks we buy are the problem; that declutter, curation and anti hauls are the answer. Given that so many people just rushed to defend Inner Traditions right to publish a fancy leather bound copy of Evola's fascist work as an 'introduction to magic' - I now feel like it's not what we buy but *who* we buy from that could do with serious reflection. I think publishers do need to step up to meet the needs of different readers and readers need to hold publishers more accountable for things like representation, meaningful deck creation, function and form of decks. The idea of critique or boycotts when publishers mess up seems too controversial for a lot of tarot consumers right now. I'm jaded though.
1st deck best in black borders..2nd deck best in back of cards in colour and the sides r coloured. .if they make 3rd deck with black borders and black sides and coloured back would be ❤lovely 👍
