Thank you so much for this! I was so looking forward to this new version but I have to say... your trimmed version is a lot better! That deck's use of saturation is what makes it so special, the images don't have as much power now. Such a pity!
I was so excited about the second edition - all those changes sounded so good but when I got it I found it very disappointing. The colours were washed out, the new cards didn't match the original style and the images were cropped so much that parts of the artwork were missing. I also realised that such busy cards need the border to hold the eye in. So I trimmed off the titles from the first edition because that was a feature that I liked on the new edition, and I returned the second edition.
Oh wow, it's funny only having the second edition (which is plenty colourful on its own) and then seeing these together and realising the first is even more saturated! It's a shame they had to crop so much of the artwork, your trimmed micro borders look so good. But, I love the chariot in the new deck and I don't want to give it up! Either way, it's a gorgeous deck and I'm glad to have it.
Hi Sharon, I have to agree with you , I loved the idea of having different card stock, but the images just don't pop anymore. However, a bigger font within the new guidebook sounds wonderful. I'll look forward to hearing your take on the new guidebook when you've had a chance to work with it.
Thank you for the video, I was so sure I would get this edition because it was a matte card stock and I had issues with the old one, but the lack of saturation does give me pause. And you’re right, I also found the changed empress a bit creepy. Would have to think about this new edition a bit more.
Well, I like the size, matte stock, and orange edging on the new one. Too bad peeling them apart caused so much damage, and the colors def seem washed out. It's still nice, but I like the old one better.
Yea me too. I've been toying with the idea of rebacking the glossy version. I had some extra cards and I peeled one apart. It worked fine. If I go through with it I'll post a video.
Don’t have either one yet. Helpful to see them side by side. Pros and cons to them both. Thank you. Haha I was looking to see what oracle decks you’d pair it with…next time!
Thanks for watching. I need to get back to pairing videos. I've been job hunting and it is so mentally taxing I just haven't had the energy for creating videos. ❤️
@@TrioofWitchesTarot I hear you! I’m taking online courses in addition to working and sometimes I just don’t have the energy to record a vid! Love your vids ❤️ good luck 🍀 finding a great job you love and are well compensated!! ✌🏼
I won't get min till new year. Nice to see them side by side in advance. I was secretly hoping for linen stock. It will be interesting to see which one i use. 1st edition has a special place in my library. 😊
I prefer the 1st edition. I don't like the changes to the Queen of Cups & High Priestess cards. The new Queen of Cups is missing the sinking emotions and sadness. The new High Priestess looks washed out & angry. Also, the saturation on the 1st edition is so much better and the images are less cropped. Like you, I have trimmed my 1st edition & edged with a black sharpie for a small border. The 1st edition images aren't the same size, so the black sharpie small border was necessary. I so wish when artists make other editions that the original cards be included so the user could make a choice. I don't know if I will purchase the new edition.
