It’s funny that you say that, because the actor who played Trautman, Richard Crenna, started off his career in acting on radio in 1937. That’s how he has that unique voice that makes him stand out as an actor further into his career.
Kirk Douglas was the original choice to play Col. Trautman. I think he had creative differences with Stallone wanting Rambo to live at the end of the film. Luckily Richard Crenna stepped in at short notice. I don't know if Douglas would have been too recognisable a star to play the role as effectively as Crenna did. You believe Crenna in the part, because (although he'd had a good career) he's not as instantly identifiable as Douglas.
Micheal mixon. that line when he says ''Rabo'' ''is a heart attack''. Crenna died of a heart attack in real life. must hav got it from having too back upp John J. Rambo 24/7'' ???????
I love watching the Rambomovies so much and i can’t ever get tired of watching them 🙂. Richard Crenna was amazing as Colonel Samuel Trautman and he made him a likeable character and closest to a family John Rambo has 🙂. I can listen to him talk all day and he has a true charisma and a true motivator . RIP Richard Crenna 😢
The best part about it is that it's a real story; the writers didn't just dream it up as something that sounded good. It's what Michaelangelo told people when he unveiled the Statue of David.
I missed the best phrase on the last scene... Russian: - who do you think Rambo is ... god? Trautman: -no... God would have mercy ... Hahahahaha Amazing
Yep, not what anyone expected - unique characters somehow, even while being one-dimensional and stereotypical, but that's Stallone. He finds the extraordinary lurking within the ordinary
Col. Trautman builds up Rambo so perfectly. The only other time I've ever seen an action movie hero given such a flawless verbal introduction is Viggo Tarasov giving the Baba Yaga speech about John Wick.
Im a Metal Gear fan and Colonel Campbell was inspired by Trautmans look and appearance, brilliant performance by Richard Crenna, i wish there was more acknowledgement of him after Rambo 3 whether it was to do with Trautmans family that Rambo looked out for in later films
Great compilation of key moments in the trilogy. Just a small note: Richard Crenna was allowed to keep the beret he wore in the films and his neighbours recall him always wearing it at gatherings.
The reason Rocky and Rambo have become movie icons over the years ,...is not the action in them,.. Is the human element,...it's the deep emotion dialogue between the characters in them,..and the worries and fears they face,.... they portray the problems everyone of us face in everyday life ......death, the future.and not feeling worthwhile.....I've grown up to the Rocky & Rambo films over the years, and have been educated, entertained and inspired by both....
yeah mick was the best trainer, uploaded also a vid with him, check it out -> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q7cDQY9wVF8.html If you can catch this, you can catch greased lightning... ;) haha
Crenna in the first 3 Rambo movies....master of having "the last word" except with John "Raven" Rambo himself...."sorry I got you into this, John."....Then Rambo says "no you're not" ....LOL
Amazing footage original three films need to be preserved so future generations can watch them my 1992 ass has had the pleasure of watching them and so should future generations over the next century.
FAQ: Following high school, Richard Crenna served in the US Army during World War II, serving in the infantry as a radioman - where he saw combat duty in the European Theater at the Battle of the Bulge. Crenna also served in the Pacific Theater decoding Japanese intercepts. (Wikipedia)
Sylvester Stallone is my favorite movie star and I have the whole collection of Blu-ray Rambo collection I can not wait to see Rambo last blood thank you Sylvester Stallone
When I was a kid I always use to say where at the misiles located and still today just like him! Rambo was a big part of my child hood, along with jean Claude!
First Blood is a brilliant film on many levels,...arguably Stallones finest,...yes Rocky is a wonderful drama , and an Oscar winner,....but First Blood, as a real message to tell , and of the dilemma many vets faced after Vietnam.
Colonel Trautman (to Teasle): "Strictly speaking, he messed up; you're lucky to be breathing." Rambo (to Trautman): "I could've killed all of them; I could've killed you. Don't push it..." Colonel Trautman (to Rambo): "We can't have you out there wasting friendly civilians...." The dialogue in this movie has some serious plot holes.
Living in NYC I jad a new roommate from Serbia. Total strangers but nice guy. One Friday night he got sorted to go out for the evening and asked me what I was doing. I said "Well I was gonna go meet some friends but First Blood is coming on so I'm staying in." He immediately took off his jacket and said "I love Rambo." Turns out we both knew almost every single line to First Blood and ended up ROFL. Still one of my closest buddies almost 20 years later.
many greetings from all over the world Thank you for everything my best Stallone is the brave. My best hero is my best rambo Dankschon my best with much love for respect to your Sir Sylvester Stallone Dankschon
Please note actors Charles Napier in First Blood 2 and Michael Krease. Charles Napier was Adam in the third season episode of Star Trek in The Wsy To Eden for those, like me who are Originsl Stsr Trek fans, and Michael Krease was in the Karate Kid movies.
To be fair on them, Colonel Trautman said this to John to make him reconsider join him in the mission, bc basically John told him he´s done with War and he did his part for his country. Colonel Trautman got a feeling mission would require a man like Rambo.
