You may want to try adding a small amount of Japanese Hondashi powder to chicken flavored ramen. The smoked tuna and seaweed flavor pairs beautifully with chicken broth. You will not believe the depth of flavor it adds.

Here's what I do...buy some medium frozen shrimp (shelled and deveined). They cost about $6 a pound but you're only going to use about 8 for one package of ramen. 1 cup of water into a pan on medium high heat. Toss it the shrimpage (now I'm talking like you). You just want them in until they are unfrozen. Yank them out, take off the tail, and cut into smaller pieces - or don't. Add ramen into shrimpified water and throw the "flavor packet" right into the garbage...because that's what it is. Add : 2-3 Tbsp of soy sauce 2 Tbsp of teriyaki, oyster, or hoisin sauce (whatever you have or a combination is even better) 1 tsp of minced or pureed ginger (if you only have ground ginger just a pinch) 1 tsp of minced garlic Whatever kind of Asian hot sauce you like....I love the "Rooster" chili-garlic sauce and use about 3-4 tsp. Add shrimp back in and when the ramen is fully cooked, you are ready to eat! It's easier if the shrimp are thawed and if they are just add them in the last minute or so of cooking. Brilliant! Total time is maybe five minutes.
