​@@nishwing9935 He pitched the idea of opening a pure western school with teachers directly hailing from Europe since India at the time in 1998 (according to Ramesh's timeline) did not have an authentic western education system. India having been in British rule had quite a number of churches with pure western compositions played in them. Rahman at the time was a good friend of Ramesh and was like "what? what are you talking about? What does all this even mean?" to Ramesh to which Rahman said if there would be any interest from his side he would contact back Ramesh(basically dismissing Ramesh). Ramesh claims that he had several meetings with Rahman over time even as his car was stuck in rain having a tough time navigating his way to meetings. As time passed, in 2008, KM music conservatory which has the "highest qualified" teachers from Europe, russia, etc. was opened by- AR Rahman. Ramesh got to know this at the last minute because Internet did not have much scope of reach at the time. ​So in all these years that he was a good friend to Rahman (not sure about now) Rahman did not contact Ramesh much. In the end, not even a sliver of credit of the idea was given to Ramesh let alone Rahman keeping away from Ramesh, that, when Ramesh with hurt emotions tried to speak out cautiously to media like The Hindu, he was rejected. Ramesh decided not to speak against this with the idea to not spread hate for his long time friend (and in general as well), but he says that the simple prospect that someone tends to have a second thought of "Between Rahman and Ramesh, who is bigger? So Who will get rejected more easily?" (You be the judge). What Ramesh also teased was that Rahman often says publicly "I feel like a loner". We, as society perceive it as "Geniuses are lonely. What a legendary statement!" Ramesh's perspective- "If he feels lonely about something, why can't he pitch up his close friend i.e me?" Ramesh is saying that he spots Rahman's insecurities differently but not so in a way that he uses it to hurt others. Now, if your question to me is who is right who is wrong what is the conclusion? No idea. I would like the comments educate on that

And also....Please stop trusting anyone in the film industry please, me myself being a sound engineer from the very industry leant my lesson to be very very careful of even the so called "legends" NOBODY IS HONEST in the industry. Do You mean to say Ramesh Vinayakam got to do films like Univercity,Hey Nee Romba Azagairukka,Naladamayanthi,Azageeya theeyea,Jerry,Mosakutti,Ramanujan,A Common Man(Hollywood film,,Ben Kingsley,Ben Cross) and other Telugu films like Aunty(which ran for 100 days) without approaching,Directors,Producers and media ?

Gamakas are not codified in any form by anyone except by Ramesh Vinayakam.Ramesh Vinayakam had done the first complete notation for Indian classical music or Indian Music.

@@Uyou-op7ec not true. like the original poster asked, Subbarama Dikshitar in his Sangeetha Sampradaya Pradarshini did try to do this and it works for veena to some extent. Many other people have done so in their own ways. It is just that there isn't one universal notation system.

Everybody thinks that knowledge should be given just like that.Also everybody thinks that the duty of a Teacher is to teach.Both the statements made above may look correct outwardly but it is not as simple as it looks.IT IS THE DUTY OF A TEACHER TO TEACH ONLY THOSE WHO SEEK IT.Knowledge is Fire,Power, Sharpest Sword which may turn differently according to time,space and causation of action.Ramesh Vinayakam is a Rishi,A Dirgha Darshi,A Saint in normal clothes.A World TEACHER apart from being A World Musician, Composer.Patenting is the only way to preserve the purity and holiness of the work done.I have not seen anyone thinking so deeply for the whole universe,world and spending years and years of hard time doing very Great research on this particular subject called deciphering The BigBugbear called Gamaka and Boxing it to be simplified for the whole world to access easily..This Man has solved so many problems in one brilliantly Shining Stroke.Enjoy it as the time comes.Some 150 yrs or more than that before some musical stalwarts tried to notate Carnatic music and failed miserably and ended up with complicated complex form which became mind-boggling to those who saw in paper.I have heard some Carnatic stalwarts discouraging some of their students from getting into this .They have even felt it will be a time consuming time wasting effort not worth it.This is the actual scenario.Everything is for good.We are witnessing a path breaking, historical epoch in front of our eyes where for the very first time in modern history a new universal language for music is born.

Not this early. He has to get all the dividends for his hard-work and years of Sacrifice. When it becomes popular in the future maybe after 10 years, when RV decides, he holds all the right to make it free for public and a good man in himself will surely do.

All the pundits of Carnatic music are very happy and proud of Ramesh Vinayakam 'New invention called Gamaka Box.You can search the appropriate RU-vid stuff and other news in other medias for Yourself.Do not give a totally wrong picture about others.All these years there was no tool to teach Carnatic or Hindustani music . Gamaka Box has the beauty to fill that gap.

Ramesh Vinayakam clearly mentions that we should the Carnatic masters for preserving their through oral tradition inspite of not having any aid inthe written form of music...unnotated form of music.

Yes he comes across as really hurt. All he is saying is he came up with the idea, had meetings with ARR about this and one fine day finds ARR materialised RV's idea keeping him in the dark. Felt backstabbed by his own friend. Hope they both resolve this amicably.

I think there is some miscommunication or something. Because the time which Ramesh mentions was the time when Slumdog Millionaire happened. It was a hectic time for Rahman. I wonder whether Ramesh met Rahman directly during those meetings.

yes exactly even I don't get the point, rahman didn't steal the gamaka box notation system, he just separately started his own conservatory

Gamaka Box news came in 2010 which is the only stuff like that to be patented.Now no one can steal it.Meetings as friends between Ramesh Vinayakam and Ar happened before 2008.Ramesh and Ar are student of Piano Master Jacob John.Master had wanted Ramesh to continue His legacy as Ramesh was Jacob Johns favourite student.The whole idea was Ramesh's .Please hear the interview again and again and understand what had happened during that period..It is all clear.

So true. Most of the people commenting here are purely jealous and blinded by their hatred towards ARR. They even mention his recent concert fiasco (out of hundreds of his successful concerts), Sukhwinder claiming "Jai Ho" as his, and various small-time musicians helping ARR with background scores, implying he isn't original. This trend has been ongoing for a while now. If you cannot find faults with an artist, just discredit him-that's what they are doing. It all started with Mr. H. Sridhar's demise. I don't want to delve into whose fans they are or what their personal motives are. Even in this interview, what's exactly the fault of ARR? Opening a music conservatory? How many times has ARR spoken ill about others? Here, Mr. RV clearly had a motive; he could have avoided it, but he still wanted to make it a complaint. If he's really hurt, did he convey that to ARR, and what was ARR's response? Here, he has hurt ARR and his fans by making a childish claim. How could that even be stealing? It's like saying I have the patent for brother-sister relationships in movies, and Bharathiraja stole it for the movie "Kizhakku Seemayile." Oh, come on, genius.

GnanaRajasekaran,The Director of bio pic Ramanujan, During Ramanujan Audio launch described and compared Ramesh Vinayakam with Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan..saying Ramesh becomes entirely different when he composed and immersed in music.It came in the RU-vid too.

The Director said in Tamil "evare oru Ramanujan thaan" mentioning Ramesh in the stage.

Mindless? Could you elaborate? Ramesh Vinayakam is a powerhouse of talent and immensely underutilized and undervalued by the Tamil film industry. I for one am very excited to see this interview. Maybe I’m missing some context as it relates to your comment?

@@ganeshm2077hmm, will have to disagree there. Yes there are multiple interviews, but I’m only going to watch the ones I’m interested in. And if the interviewer is well prepared and has done their homework, as is the case here, the conversation is far from “mindless”.
